‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) is doing the festival rounds. It’ll be shown at the 6th Festival du Film Français d’Helvetie in Bienne, Switzerland on September 18, 2010, 8pm as well as at the 54th BFI London Film Festival on October 16, 2010, 6pm and on October 18, 2010, 12pm. Thanks Giovanna and Nadine for the heads up!
Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard along with fellow ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ cast members François Cluzet, Gilles Lellouche, Benoît Magimel and Laurent Laffitte will appear on Les Enfants de la télé (TF1) on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 8.45pm when the show comes back after summer break. Other guests on the same evening include Marion’s former costars Julie Depardieu and Thierry Lhermitte as well as Kad Merad and Pierre Palmade. Source: TVMag.com
The line-up for the upcoming episodes of Taratata, which comes back from summer break on September 28, 2010 has been announced: Louis Chedid, M, Phil Collins, Ben l’Oncle Soul, Eliza Doolittle, Guillaume Grand, Maroon 5, Yodelice, Marion Cotillard, Sara Schiralli, K’naan will be taping their performances on Thursday, September 16, 2010. No air date has yet been announced but if the order of the taping sessions is anything to go by we can expect the episode with Marion on October 5, 2010 8.35pm on France 4. Go here to register to attend the taping session. Source: Actu-Loisirs.com
And a little bit of trivia about the programmes. Les Enfants de la télé shows old and rare – maybe awkward – video clips of its guests. Taratata showcases live and pre-recorded footage of current rock acts and features unique duets as well as brief interviews with the artists. The prerecorded sessions air on France 4 every Tuesday at 8.35pm together with bonus material such as footage of rehearsals. Later, it also airs on France 2 (Fridays after midnight) and France 3 as well as throughout Europe on TV5 Monde on Saturday and on TV5 Québec Canada.
The sidebar has been updated with all of these dates.

To promote the release of ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ in France Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard will appear during Michel Drucker’s talk show Vivement Dimance on October 10, 2010. Thanks Louise & Gina for the heads up!
There will be an advance screening of ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ at the Cinema Gaumont Pathé in Orléans on September 15. Guillaume Canet will be there as well as some of the cast. Seeing as this is Marion’s hometown, I’m guessing she’ll be there.
The 25th edition of FIFF (Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur, Belgium) is currently in negotiations to feature ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ in their lineup when the festival takes place October 1-8, 2010. Additionally, they are waiting for confirmation of Guillaume Canet’s attendance and will try to get the rest of the cast, speak Marion Cotillard. Stay tuned! Source: Sud Presse, thanks Nadine for the heads up!
I also added more pictures to the ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) gallery. I will be attending the Mulhouse advance screening tomorrow evening and post my thoughts as well as some film-related scans soon afterwards.

At the beginning of June 2010 Marion Cotillard travelled together with Greenpeace to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Congo: Forests on probation is an impressive 7-part video diary of Marion’s stay there and documents the plundering of the Congolese forests. I am leaving on a short holiday so I don’t have the time to upload pictures but I encourage you to watch these videos.
I will catch up on all the ‘Inception‘ promotion and other Marion news once I’m back next week. And here’s a TV alert: She will be the guest on the Late Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson on the day of ‘Inception‘s LA premiere: July 13.

The 63rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival starts tomorrow, May 12 and will run until May 23. While none of Marion’s upcoming movies are part of the line-up she is sure to be busy behind the scenes promoting them. Also the David Lynch directed Lady Dior short film is scheduled to be unveiled on Saturday, May 15. Will there be a special event at Cannes for this? I don’t know.
What is sure is that she’s the invited guest for Le Grand Journal next week on Wednesday, May 19 18 (source: Toutlatele.com Ozap.com, thanks Nadine for the heads up!). Additionally, AFP is reporting that Marion will be attending the amfAR benefit gala at the Eden Roc Hotel on May 21.
While we’re awaiting more news and especially pictures I added all the additional pictures from last year’s Cannes festival I still had sitting in some folders on my computer. Enjoy!

Marion Cotillard is on the cover of the upcoming issue of Another Magazine, out tomorrow. This is a preview of the (limited) cover as well as the interview:
Inspired by the instruction-based art of the Fluxus movement, AnOther Magazine gave cover star Marion Cotillard three instructions before her interview: bring an object you love; a photograph that makes you smile; and a piece of writing that has taught you something. The first object that tumbled from her bag was a vintage, folding Polaroid SX70, small enough to slide into her jacket pocket, a constant accompaniment across time zones and film sets. Her photographic heroes are Sarah Moon and Peter Beard. As for the photograph, she told us, “I couldn’t choose one. So I brought three. There’s a wood in Corsica where I went on holiday, a beach near Bordeaux I always go to, and a beautiful wood outside Paris, where I often stay with a friend.” The photographs – otherworldly, mysterious, peaceful havens – seemed to be a kind of quiet, talismanic antidote to the lively chaos that has surrounded Cotillard since 2007. The last object Cotillard brought along seemed to bring us full circle to her childhood quest for answers. She picked up a lovingly battered paperback, a collection of speeches, Freedom from the Known, given by the philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. “It’s hard to choose one book that has changed things in your life,” she smiled. “But the way he talks about fears, happiness, violence, time, life, death, us. How to find your own vision, and understand human beings, is so inspiring. As an actress, I feel like an anthropologist of human emotions. I don’t observe people because I’m an actress and I want to steal things from them. It’s the other way around – I’m an actress because I find human beings so very interesting.”
Marion Cotillard starts her ‘Nine‘ promotion in France already tonight: she’s scheduled to appear during the evening news on TF1 at 8pm. There’s no way I can record this since I’m not home but they put the video up on their website afterwards.
Sadly, Oscarcast executive producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic have dropped a bombshell, telling artists nominated for Best Original Song that they won’t be invited to perform the usual big production number (source). Thus our hopes of seeing Marion Cotillard perform the Oscar nominated song ‘Taking it All‘ during the show have been shattered.

Upcoming Events:
Today, Marion Cotillard will (probably) attend the 15th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony as she’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Red carpet arrivials will begin at 4PM (PT). The Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony will begin promptly at 6PM (PT) and will be broadcast live on VH1 Television Network at 9PM ET/PT. Details at Locate TV. Then, don’t forget the Golde Globe Awards on Sunday. More on that later.
Upcoming Talk Shows:
The recently announced talk show appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly was quietly cancelled. It seems that it was impossible for Marion to go on the show since she was in Los Angeles at business meetings. Don’t forget to watch the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson this coming Monday evening. And a new talk show appearance to note down in your diaries: Marion Cotillard is scheduled to appear on the Tavis Smiley show, Tuesday, January 19 Thursday, January 21 on PBS. Check your local listings because not all PBS stations carry Tavis’ show and if they do, the times and sometimes dates vary. Many thanks Pushpak for the info.
For both the upcoming event and talk show appearances, I’d appreciate any help with getting good quality screencaptures and video clips for the site. Thank you!
This & that:
Some background information of what went on at last Saturday’s Dior Cocktail party:
“Nine” producer Marc Platt unveiled a video she shot for her “Nine” number “Take It All.” “You may all know Marion is an Oscar-winning actress, but what you may not know is that she’s a talented music video artist,” he deadpanned. The clip showed bits from the film, rehearsal footage and outtakes of Cotillard in the recording studio. “Aaagh, this is so embarrassing,” she laughed as the small crowd, including directors Jim Sheridan, David Lynch and Michael Mann, and Tobey and Jennifer Maguire, broke into applause. Although tout Hollywood seems to want to work with her, Cotillard says she’s next turning her attention to a personal documentary on conserving the forestlands, which she was inspired to do after some friends raised her awareness about deforestation.

Then the upcoming rumoured Marion project ‘Second Coming‘ was recently mentioned by The Arizona Republic in an article about women’s rising power in Hollywood:
But if you do, and your stock is rising, it can happen. Bullock is one example. Marion Cotillard, an Oscar winner currently starring in “Nine,” is another. She’s a producer for the upcoming “The Second Coming.”
“What’s interesting is that time has changed, and now you, as an actor, can find a good story by yourself and make it happen,” Cotillard said, “like Charlize Theron with ‘Monster.’ . . . There are many ways to find roles if it doesn’t come to you from a director or producer. More and more actors are producing their movies. Maybe it’s because of that – they aren’t happy enough with the offers they get, or they want to do something else that directors will not think that they’re able to do.”
Many thanks Aurore for the following heads-up. Hugh Grant visited Le Grand Journal to promote his new movie ‘Did You Hear About the Morgans?‘ in France. During the comedy re-cap of recent news and gossip called Le Petit Journal there was a funny skit featuring Marion Cotillard. Did you think it funny how so many famous Hollywood men posed with Marion for photographs at the recent Dior Cocktail Party in her honour? Well, that’s what they thought as well, and they found a way for everyday citizens (and Hugh Grant) to do the same.

Tomorrow, Marion will be presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award by ‘Nine‘ director Rob Marshall at the Black Tie Awards Gala at the beginning of the 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival – as previously announced. Apparently, the event will be covered by Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart as of 6pm PT.
In both cases I appreciate any help with video clips and good quality screencaptures. Thank you!
Thanks Nadine for the heads up: Marion will make a 3rd appearance on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on January 18, 2009 – the day after the Golden Globes. I know I’m looking forward to this, should be entertaining!

Before looking ahead let’s quickly review where Marion’s been in the last weeks:
November 14-16 she attended public ‘Nine‘ events in New York. Afterwards she did some ‘Nine‘ promotion in Los Angeles before returning to Paris, France. In the first week of December she was in Shanghai with David Lynch to shoot a short movie for Dior (thus missing the London ‘Nine‘ premiere). She returned to Paris, France last week where she started doing ‘Le dernier vol‘ promotion. Most notably on TV last Wednesday and yesterday but of course also behind the scenes. Places she could have gone as well – if she could be in two places at the same time – are the ‘Nine‘ premieres in Dubai and Los Angeles as well as the ‘Public Enemies‘ premiere in Japan. Due to Marion’s and Guillaume’s commitments there will be no ‘Le dernier vol‘ premiere this week in France (source: director Karim Dridi on official Facebook page).
What lies ahead? Marion is travelling to New York now.
December 15, 2009
• ‘Nine‘ premiere in New York, 6pm ET Watch live

December 16, 2009
• Variety ‘Nine‘ Screening with Q&A, AMC Lincoln Square (NY) at 8.30pm (with director Rob Marshall)
Probably she’ll be heading to Los Angeles for awards season afterwards. Remember, ‘Le dernier vol‘ opens in France on Wednesday (Dec 16) and ‘Nine‘ opens in New York and Los Angeles on Friday (Dec 18).
