While the song ‘Beds are Burning’ for the Time for Climate Justice – Tck Tck Tck Campaignis already available on MySpace (it seems that was only a temporary version, it has since been removed), the official launch date is October 1. During the previously mentioned press conference in Paris on October 1 the video clip will be unveiled and it is also as of October 1 that it will be available as free download on many digital platforms. Each click, download and listening will count as a “virtual musical petition” that will be presented to the political leaders of the world at the climate conference in Copenhagen in December.
The full-length song ‘Beds Are Burning (Dry River Bed Version)’ has been uploaded to the TckTckTck Myspace Website! Listen to Marion Cotillard, Guillaume Canet, Milla Jovovich, Lilly Allen, Bob Geldof, Mélanie Laurent, Mark Ronson, The All American Rejects, Hawskley Workman and many others singing this new version of Midnight Oil‘s song that is part of the Time for Climate Justice – Tck Tck Tck Campaign!
[edit September 17] It seems that this was only a temporary version after all and has since been removed from MySpace. The final version will be available later this month.[/edit]
Beds Are Burning at the Fashion Week Paris: There will be a press conference and a photo call at the Dôme des Galeries Lafayette on October 1, 2009 as of 8 pm. No word on who will attend but let’s hope Marion will.
Thanks to Marion-Cotillard.fr. Even though we still have to wait till September 8 to listen to Beds Are Burning – a song recorded by many stars, among them Marion Cotillard, in support of the Tck Tck Tck Campaign – we can now have a glimpse at the music video and the song on Facebook and MySpace
I added the small version of the signed promo picture, caps of the music video teaser as well as the teaser itself and a short clip of the New York Making Of where you can hear Marion’s singing and see her standing behind the microphone recording her parts for the song to the site’s media parts.
You may have been as curious as I to listen to the new cover version of Midnight Oil’s Beds are burning – recorded by stars such as Marion Cotillard, Guillaume Canet, Mélanie Laurent and Vincent Pérez – which was supposed to be available for download this past Thursday.
The song is actually part of a campaign launched yesterday by former secretary general of the United Nations Kofi Annan and Live Aid founder Bob Geldof.
The “tck tck tck” campaign, pronounced tick, tick, tick to symbolise time running out, was created by Havas Worldwide and will break online today and appear on TV and press in the coming days.
The campaign has been backed by the Advertising Community Together initiative and Havas Worldwide’s global chief executive, David Jones, is calling on all advertisers to feature the tck tck tck logo on all ad campaigns globally between July and December.
The ad aims to urge people from around the world to become “climate allies” and apply pressure on world leaders to reach a just and binding deal at the UN Climate Change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
Additional components of the campaign will include the release of merchandise dog-tags and a cover version featuring several actors and singers of the song Beds are Burning by Australian rock band Midnight Oil, which will be available to download free from September.

So we’ll have to be patient a little while longer – but this campaign sounds interesting and hopefully it’ll achieve its aim.
AFP reports that Marion Cotillard, Guillaume Canet, Mélanie Laurent et Vincent Pérez among other stars will be recording a song during the Cannes Film Festival for the “Global Humanitarian Forum” – a foundation presided over by Kofi Annan. The song should help sensitize the public as well as politicians for the protection of our planet. Other celebrities who’ll be lending their voice to the song include Bill Clinton, Clint Eastwood and tennis champion Yannick Noah.
The song will be a new version of “Beds Are Burning” by Midnight Oil (listen to the original). The band has written new lyrics especially for this occasion. The song will be available as of June 25th to download for free. A representative of the band’s music label “The Hours”, Alexandre Sap, want this to become the most downloaded song in the world.
Remember back in February when we linked to an article about Hawksley Workman that mentioned him having “spent some time in Los Angeles working and writing songs with Golden Globe winning actress Marion Cotillard”? Well, these new songs for Cartier LOVE (Hawksley also recorded an original song) could really be the result. I found this on HawksleyWorkman.com:
While you’re there, make sure you also check out Oscar winner Marion Cotillard’s Hawksley-produced effort “The Strong Ones”.
Also, could it be that it’s him who’s providing the background vocals on Marion’s track?
To find out what exactly those LOVE bracelets are that all of these songs are advertising check out this article at Paste Magazine. And if you have trouble downloading the song from the Cartier website go here.
Wow wow wow! This is all I can say! Marion Cotillard has recorded an exclusive song for Cartier LOVE. The new worldwide campaign is launched today and Marion’s amazing track called ‘The Strong Ones’ is available for download on the official website: Love.Cartier.Com. Be sure to visit the site, go to the section Music and to click Marion’s picture, where you’ll find a link to listen to and/or download the song. And if you’re lucky you’ll be hearing Marion’s enchanting voice upon first visiting the site.
Information about the campaign: Parts of the proceeds from the LOVE project go to different charity organizations around the world that Cartier are involved with. Watch a preview of the campaign on YouTube (no Marion there, unfortunately).
