Simone performed at Olympia last night

As always unannounced Simone (aka Marion Cotillard) made an appearance with Yodelice at their concert in the famous music hall Olympia in Paris. It was her second performance at the venue with Yodelice (after last May) and also where some of the filming for ‘La Vie en Rose‘ took place (one of the most famous Édith Piaf concerts took place at that venue). Last night, Simone only joined Yodelice for 2 songs: she was playing the guitar on My Bood Is Burning and More Than Meets The Eye. Heavily pregnant she seems to have been enjoying herself tremendously. Watch videos on YouTube.

Marion Cotillard on Taratata

France 4 & 2 finally aired the Taratata episode featuring Marion Cotillard. She appeared as Simone along with Yodelice for the song ‘More than meets the eye’ and then performed the David Bowie song ‘Velvet Goldmine’ as a duo with Yodelice. And then she was also interviewed. Rewatch the entire episode on MyTaratata.com.

She talked about her love of music and how she’s always had the dream to make music but it wasn’t until Yodelice aka Maxim Nucci pushed her that she’s living the dream. Yodelice was quick to praise her, saying that she’s very gifted and quick in learning how to play instruments by herself. She learned how to play the piano at home when she was little and how to play the cello for a film (‘Toi et moi‘) and now the guitar and bass guitar. When told not to minimalize her talents she explained that it was out of respect for musicians that she’s careful not to over emphasize her musical talents. When asked whether she dreamed of becoming a singer (musicienne) or an actress (comédienne) when she was a little girl she said she dreamed of being in musicals (comédies musicales). This lead to the music video Marion was in when she was 14 years old. She loved the song ‘Petite Fille’ a lot at the time and still loves the band Les Wampas. They joked that they could have a re-union on the show. Marion was also asked whether it’s imaginable that there’d be a solo album in the future and she said yes. The host joked that this probably means it’s already in preparation.

Here are links to things that were mentioned in the interview: Petite Fille (pictures, video), Milord duet with Jenifer (pictures, video) and The Eyes of Mars (pictures, video).

Yodélice’s new music video to the first song Breathe In on the new album is out! Watch the music video on UniversalMusic.fr. It features footage from the studio as well as live concerts – and really captures the atmosphere of seeing the band peform live! I’m not sure whether this is the final version or only a teaser – but for my taste it’s far too short!

Marion Cotillard performed a duet with French singer Jenifer already once on live TV early 2007 during the show Hommage à Piaf when they sang Piaf’s song ‘Milord’ together.

Now, Charts in France reports that a duet with Marion Cotillard can be found on Jenifer’s 4th studio album Appelle moi Jen to be in stores on November 29. The song is called ‘Le clash des brunes‘. I can’t wait!

Ahead of some very exciting new pictures one more “catching-up-post”. Around the release of the music video for Lady Dior Marion Cotillard was featured in the April issue of Vogue Paris. The interview is mostly about music and how it has always helped her to get in character while filming. Interestingly, Marion used Debbie Harry of Blondie as inspiration and model to be able to portray a rock singer in the recent music video.

Her favourite music artists are among others MGMT, Yodelice, Izia, Radiohead, Otis Redding, U2, Bowie, Franz Ferdinand, Regina Spektor, Hawksley Workman, Pixies.

Kindly do not redistribute the magazine scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were scanned exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.

I also added the 2 songs from Marion’s movies Edy (2005) and Une affaire privée (2002) to the Songs Page.

This reminded me of Marion’s iTunes Celebrity Playlist I never updated about. Unfortunately, I can’t post a direct link as I have no access to the US Store of iTunes. But here’s the information:

The Eyes Of Mars – Music Video

I added screencaptures and the clip of the full-length music video for the Franz Ferdinand song The Eyes of Mars which was used for the New York Dior campaign. Marion looks great as a rock star!

Apparently, the music video & the song were “only” a back up option since Marion’s busy schedule made it impossible to film a proper short film continuing the story that was introduced by the Olivier Dahan directed ‘Lady Noire Affair‘. The planned ‘Lady Rouge Affaire‘ short film would have been released at the end of 2009. Getting this gorgeous music video at the beginning of March 2010 instead wasn’t a bad alternative at all, I say!

March 5: Lady Rouge Music Video Online

Check out the official Lady Dior Website for a preview of the Lady Rouge music video to the song ‘The Eyes Of Mars‘ performed by Marion Cotillard and Franz Ferdinand. The stylish music video was directed by Madonna’s favourite director Jonas Akerlund. Until March 5, 2010 – the day the music video will be online – enjoy some behind the scenes stills.

I also added HQ Print Campaign pictures and the cover of the Song. For the new Dior Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, Marion Cotillard is photographed by the emblematic Annie Leibovitz. An encounter between two women in the world’s most theatrical city, New York. Under the sign of the colour red, the brand’s mythical shade. Driven by passion and mystery, Lady Red reveals her many faces

Scene 1:
The Mirror symbolic
For a woman with a double life,
Daring by day, femme fatale by night.

Scene 2:
The Brooklyn Bridge as backdrop,
Its architecture and complex structur reminiscent of the famous “cannage” motif
Lady Rouge’s silhouette stands out agains the New York skyline.

Scene 3:
A femme fatale,
On the brink of taking her place in the spotlights,
Lady Red relaxes before taking the stage.

Finally the new song written by Franz Ferdinand and performed by Marion Cotillard has been put up at LadyDior.com. It’s called ‘The Eyes of Mars‘ and Marion’s voice is stunning! You can also listen to it on our page with audio clips of Marion’s Songs.

It seems that there will be more to the 2nd chapter – how long do we have to wait for the video clip? – so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, the website reveals that Chapter 3, which plays in Shanghai and will feature a short film directed by David Lynch, will be called Lady Bleue (Lady Blue).

Finally, it is here! The full-length song “Beds are Burning” with accompanying music video was unveiled at 3pm local time in Paris, France. Kofi Annan was joined by Mélanie Laurent, a good friend of Marion. She herself seems to have been absent from the event, so here a quote from Mélanie:

I’m supporting Kofi Annan’s initiative and hope this song will be heard by as many people as possible in the world before Copenhagen. This campaign will help secure a better future for our planet and upcoming generations. The time has come.

Read all about the ‘Beds Are Burning’ Global Musical Petition Launch here.

Be sure to visit Time for Climate Justice org to watch the full music video (also in HD) and to download the song. Remember, by downloading the song you’re signing the petition that will be handed to the world’s political leaders on December 7, 2009 in Copenhagen. The song is also available on iTunes.

Marion Cotillard’s voice can clearly be heard at around 1:31. There’s not much more footage of her in the video than we’ve already seen in the trailer, but the quality of these final captures are much better. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for all the nice comments you visitors are leaving here at the website all the time! It really encourages me to continue making this site better and more complete! Also my internet troubles seem to be over earlier than expected, at least I think so.

While we eagerly await the full video for ‘Beds are Burning‘ – the song to advertise the Tck Tck Tck Campaign for Time For Climate Justice – a new teaser as well as a ‘Marion Cotillard Tck Tck Tck Spot’ have hit the web. They’re both short but lovely – we also get to have a good look at Guillaume Canet in the teaser.
