Launch of Printemps Haussmann Christmas Illuminations

As previously announced, Marion Cotillard attended the Unveiling of the Dior Christmas Window Displays at the Parisian department store Printemps Haussmann yesterday early evening.

At the event she also talked about Christmas and travelling:

It was a bit of a battle for my mother. I didn’t really like Christmas when I was little, so I didn’t want any gifts, so the tradition was my mother figuring out how she was going to get me to pick something. Gifts are something I prefer to give. It’s always nice to get one, but I like searching for a present, I like thinking of a person and finding that special something that they are going to like.

Well, you know, you sleep, you rest. People live in terrible situations. Traveling is not that terrible.

New York Screening of ‘Rust and Bone’

On her way from the US west coast to France, Marion Cotillard attended a screening of ‘Rust and Bone‘ (De rouille et d’os) at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York on Thursday evening. It was hosted by The Cinema Society with Dior & Vanity Fair. She was wearing a transparent Christian Dior Spring 2013 dress with black pointy Dior heels (which reportedly caused some problems). Co-star Matthias Schoenaerts & director Jacques Audiard were delayed due to the snowstorm and only arrived in time for the after party at Indochine – which Marion however had to miss since she had to catch her flight to France.

On the red carpet Vulture asked Marion Cotillard about how she feels when she hears the Katy Perry song ‘Firework’:

Weekend of Press Junkets and Q&As

After flying in from London and appearing on the Jay Leno Show last week but before attending the US Gala Premiere of ‘Rust & Bone‘ at the AFI Fest on Monday, Marion Cotillard (and co-star Matthias Schoenaerts, director Jacques Audiard and co-writer Thomas Bidegain) spent a weekend promoting the movie at press junkets and during Q&As at industry screenings.

HitFix.com were among those interviewing Marion Cotillard on Saturday morning and will later post their interview.

Later that day, there was a SAG AFTRA screening at the Harmony Gold theater. During the Q&A she praised Chris Nolan and said “When it’s meant to be, love will find a way.” (Sources on Twitter: Serena Orrego, Grégoire Swan, Ana Parsons, Satu Makeda, Logan McPeak, Patricia Gold and Josh the Intern)

Then, on Sunday, there was another Q&A held by the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater:

AFI Fest: ‘Rust and Bone’ Premiere & Tribute to Marion Cotillard

Luise and I added some pictures of Marion Cotillard dressed in Dior with Chopard jewellery at last night’s US gala premiere of ‘Rust and Bone‘ (De rouille et d’os) during the AFI Fest. Before the screening there was also a tribute to Marion Cotillard and her career. Watch part of it below. I also added some screencaps from her red carpet interview as well as pictures from the after party.

After a reel of footage highlighting the best films of her career thus far, the radiant Marion Cotillard graced the stage for a quick conversation before the curtain rose for her latest contribution to French Cinema, Rust and Bone. She humbly admitted that it was “super weird” and almost “schizophrenic” to see footage of herself spliced together because the characters are all her, yet they’re all different people. When asked about the path that led to her success in acting, she confided in a time when she considered leaving the profession to pursue something else, but meeting with Tim Burton and getting a role in Big Fish convinced her to stick with it. And it’s a good thing she did. Since then, she’s secured roles she feels passionate about, in both French and American films, leading her to an Oscar win for Best Actress for La vie en rose (2007), and teaming up with the likes of Michael Mann, Woody Allen, Steven Soderburgh, and Christopher Nolan along the way. After the brief sit-down, director Jacques Audiard took the stage to introduce his cast, including Matthias Schoenaerts, who, as if in character, appropriately cued the feature presentation with an exclamation of, “Open the curtain, show the movie.”

Unveiling of Dior’s Christmas Window Display at Printemps Department Store

Relaxnews is reporting that Marion Cotillard will be unveiling the Christmas Window Display at the Parisian Department Store Printemps on November 9. This year, Dior is responsible for the decoration of the store’s windows. It will be inspired by the City of Light and is thus called ‘Inspirations parisiennes’ (Parisian Inspirations).

Passers-by can admire 11 different “fashion” windows during the Holiday Season. Emblematic places of Paris, such as Avenue Montaigne (where Dior is situated) and the Opera, will be staged. The display includes 74 dolls, especially created by the Dior workshops. “There are 12 different models, each faithfully representing iconic collections of Dior Haute Couture, from tailor Bar 1947 to AH Collection 2012 by Raf Simons,” explains the fashion house.

As mentioned in the last update Harper’s Bazaar held their Women of the Year awards at Claridge’s Hotel in London last night. Marion Cotillard was named ‘International Actor of the Year’ for her critically acclaimed performance in Rust and Bone. Congratulations!

The award was presented to her by Ralph Fiennes who said Marion Cotillard broke his heart in La Vie En Rose (source). ‘British Actor of the Year’ Emily Blunt – who was photographed with Marion – declared stalker tendancies towards her girl crush Marion Cotillard (source).

Marion Cotillard was wearing a Spring 2013 Dior dress with a navy silk panel and a broad black tulle skirt, white Dior heels and a diamond necklace. I simply love her makeup & dreamy, somewhat messy hairdo. It’s flawless! I will add pictures as soon as I have time!

Marion Cotillard – International Actor of the Year
The Queen – Icon of the Year

After doing some press interviews earlier in the day, Marion Cotillard attended first the ‘Rust and Bone‘ dinner hosted by Moet & Chandon at Michael’s on Simcoe before heading to the actual premiere of the movie held at The Elgin yesterday. More about the dinner over at Toronto Star. And there’s a new poster for the movie – to be used for promotion in the UK.

[edit:] It seems that right now Marion Cotillard is on stage after today’s screening for a Q&A together with Jacques Audiard & Matthias Schoenaerts. And Movieline has posted a spot-on review, they found words to express what I was feeling after seeing it.
