The Chopard Trophy – Party

After handing out the Chopard trophies to the young actors Marion Cotillard together with Guillaume Canet joined many stars for the official Chopard Trophy Evening at the Baoli restaurant – where DJ Stéphane Pompougnac provided the entertainment.

And surprise, she completely changed her outfit: she wore a lovely midnight blue bustier dress (matching with Guillaume’s elegant midnight blue/black suit), a more natural make up, beige high heels and a similar necklace but this time around with a dark jewel instead of a white one. Reportedly, this was because the other dress was torn and it caused her to arrive 3 hours late. But who cares, see the result in the gallery. I also added a few more pictures to the previous Cannes galleries.

Watch a short video summary of the actual Chopard Trophy Ceremony on this year’s co-host Premiere magazine’s website.

I’ve added an article from someone who met Marion Cotillard at the annual Gaumont lunch, where she was promoting Le dernier vol. She revealed her 2008 Halloween costume:

Marion Cotillard celebrated ‘Nine‘ together with the movie’s producer The Weinstein Company earlier today. Her co-star Penélope Cruz was supposed to stand next to her. Unfortunately, she was sidelined by “some sort of food poisoning.” People.com reports:

Harvey Weinstein passed on the bad news to a select group of journalists. He then introduced Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard, another star of the ensemble piece. “It was an amazing adventure, it was my dream to be in an American musical,” Cotillard said. “I really hope you are going to love what you are going to see.”

Weinstein added, “When you see [Cotillard] sing, when you see her dance, we bring back a tradition that we need to do more of.”

Marion arrived at Cannes today

According to various reports as well as the official festival website Marion Cotillard arrived at the Cannes Film Festival today. She was spotted wearing a pink dress. Hopefully, we’ll also get pictures soon.

Marion Cotillard is on the list of invitees for the next broadcast of ‘Le grand journal’ on Canal+, Monday, May 18, at 7.05 pm.

Not only will the Lady Dior short film The Lady Noire Affair be unveiled during an intimate diner at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc next week, also all of her upcoming movies – Public Enemies, Nine and Le dernier vol – are being promoted during the festival’s film market. This part of the festival is not open to the public but ScreenDaily reported that a promo reel for Le dernier vol will be shown. Lets hope that means we’ll get to see a trailer soon!

Additionally, word is out that the next stop on Lady Dior’s journey will be New York. Not sure when exactly the first print ads will show up but the short movie for that city will be called The Lady Rouge Affair and will be released at the end of this year. To see the short movies for the remaining 2 – yet unnamed – cities we’ll have to wait till 2010.

I created a new album in the gallery for all the new stills from the Lady Dior short film. I will replace them with better quality versions whenever I find them. There’s also a (tagged) picture of Marion Cotillard attending an exclusive screening of the short film at the end of April.

Despite a ‘Public Enemies‘ no-show Marion Cotillard will still be attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival! Dior and Elle Magazine are hosting a dinner in honor of Marion Cotillard during the festival. (source)

Costume Institute Gala

As previously announced, Marion Cotillard accompanied John Galliano for Dior to the Costume Institute Gala “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last night. She looked absolutely beautiful in my opinion. The hair and make up together with the lovely tan – probably from the Maroccan shoot for Le dernier vol – made her positively glowing. What a nice combination of elegance and natural beauty! Judge for yourself by looking at the pictures in the gallery:

Thanks Kit for directing me to an article at WWD.com which talks about Marion arriving for a fitting ahead of the upcoming Costume Institute ball. Read the article in the press archive. There are two things we learn:

1) There’s a new 7-minute film in support of the Lady Dior handbag that will debut on the Internet next month

2) Up next for Marion after Inception “a French film by her boyfriend – and “Lancaster” co-star – Guillaume Canet”

about aviator look in Le dernier vol:
I love that look: the helmet, the goggles, the jacket, everything. It’s very masculine. You feel confident

Marion Cotillard has been revealed as guest of John Galliano (Dior) for the upcoming prestigious Costume Institute Gala in New York, which takes place next Monday, May 4.

The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, the spring 2009 exhibition organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will explore the reciprocal relationship between high fashion and evolving ideals of beauty, focusing on iconic fashion models in the latter half of the 20th century and their roles in projecting, and sometimes inspiring, the fashion of their respective eras. The exhibition will be on view at the Metropolitan from May 6 through August 9, 2009.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, the Museum’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit will take place on Monday, May 4, 2009. Marc Jacobs will serve as Honorary Chair of the Gala. Co-Chairs are Kate Moss; Justin Timberlake; and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. This fundraising event is The Costume Institute’s main source of annual funding for exhibitions, acquisitions, and capital improvements.

Designers in the exhibition will include Giorgio Armani, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Pierre Cardin, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, André Courrèges, Christian Dior, John Galliano for Christian Dior, Rudi Gernreich, Halston, Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis, Charles James, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Paco Rabanne, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio di Sant’Angelo, and Gianni Versace.

Traditionally, everyone’s wearing gorgeous and spectacular dresses to the Costume Institute Gala. I can’t wait to see Marion’s choice!
