Le Journal du Dimanche asked Woody Allen yesterday about who of the ladies from ‘Midnight in Paris‘ are to be expected at the Cannes Film Festival. Rachel McAdams is coming but it he doesn’t know about Carla Bruni. He hopes so but all depends on her schedule and he’ll only know a few days before the festival. But what about Marion Cotillard?
“Marion is expecting a happy event which is very imminent – it’s a matter of weeks, days maybe… So I don’t know. I’d love her to be there because in Cannes people have always extended an exceptional welcome to my work. “

The official website for ‘Midnight in Paris‘ is online http://www.sonyclassics.com/midnightinparis/! There isn’t yet any content but it does say that it’ll be released in the US (first only in New York & Los Angeles) on May 20, 2011 – which is actually only little over a week after its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and the French release date.
‘Midnight in Paris’, the film which will open the Cannes Film Festival on May 11, has been sold to more territories.
Spanish sales outfit Imagina announced Tuesday that the territories include: Paradiso (Benelux), Concorde (Germany), Medusa (Italy), Lusomundo (Portugal), Scanbox (Scandinavia), Frenetic (Switzerland), Central Partnership (Russia), Prorom (Romania) and Kinoswiat (Poland).
Sun Distribution will release the film throughout Latin America, Shapira will market the film in Israel, Golden Scene will take it to Hong Kong and Catchplay will once again cover Taiwan.
As previously reported, Sony Picture Classics will be handling the distribution in US, while Mars Films will be releasing the film in France on the same day as premieres at the Cannes Film Festival.

Marion Cotillard’s upcoming movie, the Woody Allen-directed ‘Midnight in Paris‘ will open the Cannes Film Festival on May 11 in the Lumière theatre, in the presence of the Jury presided by Robert De Niro.
“Midnight in Paris is a wonderful love letter to Paris”, declared Festival director Thierry Frémaux. “It’s a film in which Woody Allen takes a deeper look at the issues raised in his last films: our relationship with history, art, pleasure and life. His 41st feature reveals once again his inspiration.”
Mars Films is distributing the movie in France and the great news is that they’re releasing it in 400 cinemas across France the very same day. The festival together with Canal+ and the national federation of French theaters plan to make the Opening Ceremony available as live feed to any theatre in France requesting it.

In the US the distribution will be handled by Sony Pictures Classic as reported earlier this month – but they have not yet set a release date. This is what they have to say about the movie:
“Midnight in Paris is Woody Allen at his most magical,” said SPC’s Michael Barker and Tom Bernard in a joint statement. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be back with Woody, Letty and their entire team, as well as our friends at Mediapro.”

New pictures of Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson on the set of ‘Midnight in Paris from Wednesday night (August 4) have surfaced. Apparently, that was Marion’s last day of filming, as the last 2 pictures show where she’s holding flowers and wiping away tears.
Additionally, I’ve added more pictures from July 7 & 30. This means we now have 299 photos of Marion on the set of the Woody Allen pic. The filenames indicate which day the photographs are from.

I added a few more pictures of Marion Cotillard on the set of the Woody Allen movie ‘Midnight in Paris‘ – mostly taken last Monday, July 26, but also 3 additional ones from July 5.
Woody Allen’s period movie just went into flashback mode. The director took over famed Paris eaterie Maxim’s on Monday night to shoot scenes for “Midnight in Paris” with Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson.
Images taken on the set of the movie so far indicate the action is set in the Twenties, but the scenes filmed at Maxim’s, owned by Pierre Cardin, take place in the late 19th century, in what an insider described as a flashback within the film.
Cotillard donned a yellow dress for the ball scene, which featured some 40 extras, including musicians. Filming stretched into the wee hours, with exterior scenes featuring a coach and horses.
