Marion Confirmed for TIFF
Last Tuesday the Toronto International Film Festival released the full schedule and a guest list. ‘Rust & Bone‘ will screen on the first & second days of the festival:
Thursday, September 6, Visa Screening Room (Elgin), 9:30 PM
Friday, September 7, Ryerson Theatre, 12:00 PM
And Marion Cotillard together with director Jacques Audiard and costar Matthias Schoenaerts are expected to attend as they’re on the released guest list.
If you enjoyed NY Mag’s short summary of Marion’s latest interview you’ll no doubt enjoy Vulture‘s more extensive notes from the full transcript, which I added a while ago:
• Marion Cotillard on Rust and Bone, Playing a Double Amputee, and Hating the Zoo, Vulture, August 21
[edit:] They released some more quotes from the same interview today:
• Plastic Surgery Makes Marion Cotillard Sad, The Cut, August 23
‘Rust and Bone’ Headed to TIFF & Stills
‘Rust and Bone‘ – which premiered during the Cannes Film Festival under its original title ‘De rouille et d’os‘ – will have its North American premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival which takes place September 6-16. The schedule will be announced on August 21.
On the Variety Weblog The Vote Jon Weisman published an interesting review of ‘Rust and Bone‘ comparing it to its Cannes competitor (and winner) Amour.
I also added another outtake from the ‘Rust and Bone‘-themed shoot for Obsession magazine as well as many more movie stills and replaced some existing ones with HQ versions. (Since I changed some of the filenames to change the order you may need to refresh the gallery to see it properly).

Woody Allen about who’s coming to Cannes
Le Journal du Dimanche asked Woody Allen yesterday about who of the ladies from ‘Midnight in Paris‘ are to be expected at the Cannes Film Festival. Rachel McAdams is coming but it he doesn’t know about Carla Bruni. He hopes so but all depends on her schedule and he’ll only know a few days before the festival. But what about Marion Cotillard?
“Marion is expecting a happy event which is very imminent – it’s a matter of weeks, days maybe… So I don’t know. I’d love her to be there because in Cannes people have always extended an exceptional welcome to my work. “

‘Midnight in Paris’ to open Cannes Film Festival
Marion Cotillard’s upcoming movie, the Woody Allen-directed ‘Midnight in Paris‘ will open the Cannes Film Festival on May 11 in the Lumière theatre, in the presence of the Jury presided by Robert De Niro.
“Midnight in Paris is a wonderful love letter to Paris”, declared Festival director Thierry Frémaux. “It’s a film in which Woody Allen takes a deeper look at the issues raised in his last films: our relationship with history, art, pleasure and life. His 41st feature reveals once again his inspiration.”
Mars Films is distributing the movie in France and the great news is that they’re releasing it in 400 cinemas across France the very same day. The festival together with Canal+ and the national federation of French theaters plan to make the Opening Ceremony available as live feed to any theatre in France requesting it.

In the US the distribution will be handled by Sony Pictures Classic as reported earlier this month – but they have not yet set a release date. This is what they have to say about the movie:
“Midnight in Paris is Woody Allen at his most magical,” said SPC’s Michael Barker and Tom Bernard in a joint statement. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be back with Woody, Letty and their entire team, as well as our friends at Mediapro.”

More Pictures from Marrakech
I added more pictures from Friday to the Opening Ceremony album and created a second for the Royal Dinner which took place afterwards and where they actually met Prince Moulay Rachid. Marion Cotillard was not only sitting next to Guillaume Canet – she was also placed next to Keanu Reeves during the ceremony.
Yesterday, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet attended the Dior Gala Dinner as well as the Tribute to French Cinema. All the French actors and directors – 50 people led by Costa Gavras and Catherine Deneuve – were assembled on stage after Martin Scorsese’s speech. More pictures and videos tomorrow!
‘La Môme‘ (La Vie en Rose) – one of the 75 French films made during the last 30 years shown at the festival – will be screened on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10pm at the cinema Megarama Salle 3.

Marrakech Film Festival is open
Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet arrived in Morocco on Thursday and attended the vernissage of the exhibition The Chamooo Thoery at the David Bloch gallery (source). And yesterday they attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Marrakech International Film Festival. Marion was wearing her hair all curly and a Christian Dior Spring 2011 gown. She also shook hands with Prince Moulay Rachid.
Today, there will be a Dior gala dinner and the Tribute to French Cinema – ‘La Môme‘ (La Vie en Rose) will be part of the retrospective.

Pictures from the Toronto International Film Festival
I added more pictures to the album of the ‘Little White Lies‘ premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival – and also finally uploaded all the other pictures taken of Marion during her 2 days at the festival. After the premiere she attended the Fox Searchlight party where she was pictured with Josh Brolin and director Darren Aronofsky. The following day she attended the press conference, changed clothes for Unifrance’s Celebration of French Cinema before wrapping up the day in yet another dress at vitaminwater’s Backyard Dash. This is also where she met up with Harvey Weinstein. Many thanks Jess for your help with the pictures. Enjoy & stay tuned for videos when I get back from my holiday.

‘Little White Lies’ World Premiere
After many ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) advance screenings in France – even one that was kept rather quiet in Paris but which Marion & Guillaume attended – the official world premiere took place earlier this afternoon during the Toronto International Film Festival. Marion Cotillard looked effortlessly chic in a somewhat new look. Together with director Guillaume Canet and co-star Gilles Lellouche I’d say a very handsome & charming trio represented the movie in Canada.
After some technical difficulties to screen the movie with subtitles there were two screenings at another venue to make up for the annoyance. The first English reviews are out by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety – though especially the latter is spoilery and not only positive.
And the ever-lovely, always genuine Cotillard.
- The Hollywood Reporter
Cotillard offers a strong presence, though Marie’s character feels too diffuse.
