Yesterday was Marion Cotillard’s first official sighting since giving birth to son Marcel 2 weeks ago. Looking nothing but stunning on a photoshoot for Dior in Paris. I think we can see Mario Testino on one of the pictures. It’ll be interesting to see what the pictures will be used for. For another Dior campaign or even a Vogue UK cover in the fall? One thing is certain though, the final photoshoot will look just great! (Source)

Madame Figaro Scans

Posted in: Gallery Updates,

I picked up the new Madame Figaro issue today and added scans of the Marion Cotillard feature. But there’s more – she was picked by the magazine as one of the 40 women who’re changing the world by caring for our environment. Also, the Peter Lindbergh portfolio features a picture of Marion Cotillard. It’s a new outtake of the 2007 photoshoot previously published in the 2008 magazines L’Uomo Vogue Italy, Vogue Italy and Vogue Paris. Finally, there was also a one page version of the Moscow Lady Dior ad in the magazine.

Kindly do not redistribute the magazine scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were scanned exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.

John Cameron Mitchell about Marion

In France’s Tétû magazine from March 25, director John Cameron Mitchell is being asked about his connection to Marion Cotillard. Here my translation:

A word about this other experience: a Dior ad where you led Marion Cotillard and Ian McKellen into a “dance erotico” and experimental. It’s an idea of Marion whom I had met before ‘La Vie en Rose‘. She adored Hedwig, so much so that she was even thinking of performing it on stage. Moreover, her friends from the band Yodelice made a brilliant cover of the song Midnight Radio which is from Hedwig. We’ll see if we can continue to work together.

In Moscow for Lady Dior

The Lady Dior Saga One Woman – Four Cities starring Marion Cotillard may officially have been closed with the final chapter taking place in London. However, Marion’s involvement with Dior is far from over. A preview of a beautiful new ad shot by photographer Craig McDean was released today. With the St. Basil’s Cathedral visible through the window the setting is officially Moscow in Russia but it was taken a few months ago on a set in Paris because Marion Cotillard wasn’t able to travel to Russia. The print campaign is coinciding with a major Christian Dior exhibition at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow next month as well as with the reopening of its luxed-up Stoleshnikov boutique. Interestingly, Moscow was rumoured to be the city featured in the 4th chapter of the Dior saga a year ago. It is not yet clear how the new ad fits into the Lady Dior saga and whether it will be accompanied by a mini-movie. But the new worldwide print campaign will premiere in Vanity Fair‘s May issue and the ad will then appear in many more May/June issues of a number of magazines including Town & Country, Elle, W and Vogue.

Lady Grey London – The Finale

Lady Grey London – The Finale, the new 7:56-minute Lady Dior short movie directed by John Cameron Mitchell and starring Sir Ian McKellen and Russell Tovey next to Marion Cotillard will go live on LadyDior.com on December 8. It was filmed at various locations in London including Brixton Academy and The Rivington Club and features the 1973 hit single ‘Rock On’ by David Essex. Why London? Says John Galliano: “London is where I began.”

Last Thursday there was a Dior Store opening party in London with a private dinner hosted by Stella Tennant at the Claridge’s Hotel afterwards. There are no pictures of Marion Cotillard but she may have attended the event. The new Dior short movie was then premiered at the Institute of Contemporary Arts the following morning after a breakfast of coffee and croissants (source). Chiara from The Blonde Salad attended all the Dior events and posted pictures (last one) and a video (after 8 minutes) from this event – where you can spot Marion at the screening.

Post-screening, Marion Cotillard was a picture of poise and elegance as she humbly admitted of not knowing much about fashion. She said that working with Galliano and Mitchell wasn’t about just fashion, but the transcendence of their creations into an altogether bigger realm of art, and that is what attracted her to the house of Dior in the first place.

“In this movie, there is something that is different than the others, there’s a very strong, young, childlike part of Lady Grey — the way she plays, the way she’s very genuine, the way she does things and she doesn’t really know all the effects she has on people,” said Cotillard after the screening at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts.

“Back two years ago when I was watching the fashion shows and people would ask me things about fashion, I would totally freak out, because I didn’t know how to talk about it,” she said. “But meeting John Galliano…has made my mind open to this world and I now really see it like really true art that makes women beautiful.”

What is it all about? Basically, it’s a tale of a showgirl, sparkle, and the secret stored inside her purse. Read more after the cut if you can’t wait until next week…

Earlier today, Canadian musician Hawksley Workman tweeted:

have had a few great music days lately. in the studio with kathleen edwards and @bon_iver drumming for kathleen’s new record (i’m a big fan) and finished up a song for short film by john cameron mitchell featuring sir ian mckellen, and marion cotillard…

I’m getting really impatient to see the new Lady Dior short movie! In the meantime watch Hawksley Workman’s 2004 music video No Reason To Cry Out Your Eyes with Marion or listen to the 2008 Marion & Hawksley collaboration The Strong Ones.
