Marion Cotillard Stars in David Bowie’s music video ‘The Next Day’
Marion Cotillard and her ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ co-star Gary Oldman star in David Bowie’s new music video ‘The Next Day‘, the title track of his latest album. The clip was written and conceived by David Bowie himself and directed by Floria Sigismondi.
The video shows Gary Oldman in priest’s garb punching a beggar on his way into a brothel-looking club. Inside, in one corner, a man whips his bloody back. In another scene, a cardinal passes out cash to scantily clad dancers. A woman with a veil drawn over her face has a platter with two eyeballs staring up from it. There’s also a praying nun. Gary Oldman’s priest joins other priests dirty dancing with prostitutes. Marion Cotillard and her scantily clad colleagues go along with the priests’ requests with looks of complete disinterest. All the while David Bowie sings in a monk’s robe – or some say he’s dressed up as Jesus – from the corner of the room and seems to condemn Oldman’s actions. Cotillard swivels seductively, only to collapse with blood pouring from her stigmata wounds before rising again like a saint.
YouTube temporarily pulled the clip hours after its release yesterday because it violated the site’s Terms of Service (probably due to graphic religious imagery and gore) but re-instated it 2 hours later with an adult-only rating for its graphic content. A spokesperson told Billboard via email that it was taken down by mistake. “With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call. When it’s brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it.”
Marion Cotillard is a fan of David Bowie. She previously performed the David Bowie song ‘Velvet Goldmine’ as a duo with Yodelice on the French TV Show Taratata back in November 2010. On the same show she chose David Bowie for her personal Taratata show – “because he’s a real genius and there’s really no need to say more about him.”

Lady Dior Web Documentary – Episode 7: Lady for a Day
Finally! The 7th and last video from the Lady Dior Web Documentary series by Eliott Bliss with music by Yodelice was put online on LadyDior.com earlier tonight! It focuses on the day when Harvard honoured Marion Cotillard as Woman of the Year earlier this year (pictures) – there’s the video of her ‘how to act dying’ – but also quickly shows many outtakes from the previous episodes. I tried to capture them all so you can enjoy these fun photographs! And there are 2 bonus videos as well.
Over the course of the episodes, we’ve followed her all throughout her exciting and sparkling world, from the red carpets of Hollywood to the ateliers of Avenue Montaigne. In this final installment in the saga, Marion Cotillard invites us to Harvard University in the United States where she’s being awarded “Woman of the Year”. A woman in Dior, naturally.

Lady Dior Web Documentary – Episode 6: Epilogue
I have no idea why I never updated about this – the screencaptures have been in the gallery for ages – but in January the 6th video of the Lady Dior Webdocumentary was released. It showed Marion Cotillard in Los Angeles promoting ‘Rust and Bone‘ during telephone interviews and at premieres as well as attending the Printemps Haussmann Christmas Illuminations Launch in Paris.
From the red carpets of Hollywood to the unveiling of the window displays at the Printemps store in Paris, follow the hectic and extraordinary life of Marion Cotillard. Ever beautiful, ever passionate, forever Dior.

Marion is Nathalie the Bear on ‘Le Débarquement’
Marion Cotillard quite unlike we’ve seen her before! ‘Le Débarquement‘ the huge live comedy event on Canal+ this past Friday evening by Jean Dujardin, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche together with Alex Lutz, Laurent Lafitte and Nicolas Bedos and many more actors & some guests also featured a number of pre-recorded segments. One involved Monsieur Picco – played by Guillaume Canet – seeking treatment of a beauty surgeon – played by Jean Dujardin – at a private clinic for his dear wife Nathalie because she’s suffering from a rare kind of shyness and afraid of being seen in public. Little wonder because she’s actually a bear. Cut to 16 months later – and Nathalie now is still a bear but looks like Marion Cotillard! It seems he’s not as happy with the result as expected – he fears he has now lost his wife – but she’s more than happy once she’s got her honey pot!

Marion Cotillard on Conan Last Night
Marion Cotillard was on Conan last night to promote ‘Rust and Bone‘. She talked about her love of redheads, having been raised by her mother to talk to outcasts at school because they could be the most interesting person, loving American comedies and ‘losing’ it when meeting people such as Will Ferrell or John C. Reilly, W Magazine photoshoot, having been allowed to express themselves artistically on the walls as a child and the movie of course. I loved it – Marion really has an adorable sense of self-depricating humour.
She was wearing a sequin plaid chartreuse Erdem dress embellished with floral appliqués and appeeared to have cut her hair. I love that look on her – and I’m happy to stand corrected when we next see her – but in my opinion the hair isn’t flowing as naturally as it did when she had that length before and we all know how she likes to experiment with her hairdo so I think it’s only some kind of wig. What do you think?

More ‘Rust and Bone’ Stills & Clips
I added loads of additional stills of Marion Cotillard in ‘Rust & Bone‘ (De rouille et d’os). Some of those are spoilery which is probably why they were only released after the movie came out on DVD & Blu-ray in France. The movie is currently screening in the US in New York & Los Angeles and will get a wider release tomorrow. On January 10 it will open in Germany. I also added 6 more subtitled video clips to the archive. There are now 10 clips. Enjoy – but if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I fear watching them all will spoil things too much.

Florence Cassez’s Exhibition Opening
Today begins Florence Cassez’s 8th year of imprisonement in Mexico. Marion Cotillard is one of her supportes who believe that she’s innocent. Back in April she visited her in her prison in Tepepan and it was reported that she frequently talks to her on the phone. On Thursday, Marion Cotillard together with France’s first lady Valérie Trierweiler and journalist and news anchor Mélissa Theuriau lent their support to Florence Cassez by attending the opening of an exhibition of her paintings – made in prison – together with her parents and her lawyer at the town hall of the 12th district in Paris. Marion Cotillard spoke to Canal+:
I’ve always been convinced that she’s innocent – from the beginning. I couldn’t really explain why. And then I really studied her file and I realized that there was nothing in the file that hold up. We are both the same age, so I think… Well, I don’t know if this is what touched me… I saw pictures of her and something happened, I can’t really explain what but she’s a very dear friend now. I just can’t wait for her to be released.

Popcorn with Peter Travers – Screencaptures & Clips
I added HQ screencaptures and the clips of Marion Cotillard on the Popcorn show with Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers. It looks like this, the Charlie Rose show & the MTV interviews were all taped on the Monday before the Times Talk. Anyway, I love this interview. The topics are both serious and interesting while at the same time there are questions to lighten up the mood. Peter Travers seemed to be very familiar with Marion’s career – which is of course a bonus – and he also asked her about the Hawskley Workman collaboration. As he makes his guests sing a little snippet of a song that means something to them Marion Cotillard beautifully sang a line from Elvis’ Fools Rush In, which she sings to her son to put him to sleep.

Charlie Rose – Screencaptures & Clip
I finally added the lovely interview with Marion Cotillard on the Charlie Rose Show from last week. She talked about why she became an actress, her role in ‘Rust and Bone‘ – of course – and why confidence will never really be part of her life as an actress. It’s a good interview albeit too short. Let’s hope Charlie Rose’s invitation to have her back on the show to talk longer will work.
