Plot Outline

French Sahara, 1933.

Bill Lancaster, a famous British pilot, has disappeared in the desert during an attempt to break the record for the crossing from London to Cape Town. His mistress, the adventuress and aviator Marie Vallières de Beaumont has only one obsession: to find him. When she flies over the Ténéré, the young woman is forced to land her biplane near an advanced French Camel corps post. Capitain Vincent Brosseau welcomes her, but refuses to help her. Worried about the rebellious Tuaregs, the command in Alger won’t authorize sending in help. Confronted by Mairie’s determination, Lieutenant Antoine Chauvet tries to disuade her from pursuing this desperate quest in a place as vast and hostile as the Ténéré. But to no avail. To pursue her search, she joins an exhibition lead by the Camel corps into Tuareg territory. During this highly mission, Antoine, who has broken away from the military hierarchy, and Mairie become closer. In this desert that hides nothing and in the state of surrender that it imposes, they discover a truth which they never expected.
