Synopsis

An instructor for an airline company, Yann Kerbec uses flight simulators to evaluate pilots’ abilities to handle extreme conditions. But Yann has a small problem: he’s afraid of flying, a debilitating panic linked to his birth and which, in his youth, stopped him from following the woman of his dreams to the end of the world. Today Yann is thirty years old. With nostalgia and humor, he reflects upon his trauma and delivers a scathing stocktaking of his love affairs that turned to custard because of his phobia. What, with his crusade to increase airline security and trying to manage his disastrous love life, Yann has reached a crossroads: he must overcome his demons and accept to grow up.

Marion Cotillard's role

She plays Alice, the new neighbour. When she and Yann first meet there is kind of an instant attraction. But remembring the woman of his dreams - who he lost - Yann rather spends his time on superficial affairs than realize another woman - Alice - might actually be the woman of his dreams.

    Personal Comments

This is an entertaining romantic comedy also dealing with growing up, father/son conflict and phopia. All in all, the story is too much told from a male perspective for me to really enjoy it - it lacked a certain subtelty and the countless affairs started to get on my nerves. I enjoyed watching Marion as a funny and charming girl-next-door (literally).
