It takes courage to walk in the truth

“Mary” is inspired by Jesus’s disciple, the mythical Mary Magdalene. The tale evokes three characters bound together by her spirit and mystery: Mary Paleci, actress, who plays the role of Magdalene in a film and is haunted by the character; Tony Childress, film director, who plays Jesus Christ in his own film; Ted Younger, famous journalist, who hosts a television program focused on faith. Fascinated or on a spiritual quest, fate will bring them together…

Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard plays the supporting character named Gretchen Mol. This is interesting since there is a real-life actress with that name whose career was somewhat jumpstarted by director Abel Ferrara.

• The film was shown at the 31st Deauville American Film Festival and the 62nd Venice Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize and 3 smaller awards.
• Marion Cotillard’s scenes are with Forest Whitaker – who later presented her with the Oscar for ‘La Vie en Rose’ in 2008.
