Magnifique Marion Cotillard has been hosting a forum ever since it’s re-opening. I was told and generally had the feeling myself it would be something Marion fans would appreciate. However, nobody beside me has posted anything yet. It now has a much better look thanks to Angelic and I sure hope you will head over and start posting! It’d be great to have discussions with fellow admirers of Marion Cotillard.

Marion Cotillard is nominated for 2 NRJ Ciné Awards for her performance in ‘La Vie en Rose’ – the awards seem to be something like a French version of MTV or Teen Choice Awards. So, go and vote for her! Just click the boxes ‘Vote!’ (The film itself is nominated as well)

‘La Frenchie de l’année’ (Frenchie of the Year)
‘Meilleur look’ (Best Look)

Welcome!

It’s been almost 3 months since I put up a temporary version and started work on this new version of Magnifique Marion Cotillard. Yes! The site has a new name and is now located at its own domain marion-cotillard.org! Since opening the tribute page in July 2006 I have discovered a large number of Marion Cotillard’s performances and she has definitely become one of my top favourite actresses and I really felt she deserved a complete website.

Today, August 23, La Vie en Rose is released on DVD in France and I chose this day to re-open the site. I am not quite finished – the Press section, older magazine scans and all the info on Marion’s additional projects are still waiting to be added/completed. However, I am sure you will find a lot to browse through already. The site features now an extensive filmography section and the gallery has been completely re-done and there are also a few video clips (sorry about the look) with many more to come!

And don’t hesitate to register and participate in the Forum! I really can’t wait for the discussion to start! And if you have a site of your own: I’m always looking for high quality affiliates, so don’t hesitate to apply!

Last but not least, I would like to thank Mycah for creating an absolutely amazing layout that is both stunning and simple at the same time. Without it all my work could never have been brought together so beautifully.

Variety article

Just saw Variety’s Women’s Impact Report 2007 and their feature about Marion Cotillard. Click the link to read the full article, I’m only going to quote a few bits. Other women in the report include Helen Mirren, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Tina Fey, Rosie O’Donnell, Paula Wagner, J.K. Rowling, Bjork and many more.

She’s one of the year’s first real Oscar contenders, which is no small feat considering how few Americans will recognize Marion Cotillard when they see “La Vie en rose.”

To watch Cotillard in action is to suspect that no human has ever lived as much — or suffered as deeply — as the wounded sparrow she plays onscreen.

To an outsider, re-creating such intense pain may seem like masochism, but “it’s what I like to do,” Cotillard insists. “When I play tragedy, I have fun. It’s a very vast place to express yourself.”

What’s next: Nothing official yet, but thanks to the international success of “La Vie en rose,” “I have very interesting offers now,” she says.

Welcome to the new version of ‘Presenting Marion Cotillard’. I have re-done the whole content with WordPress – an amazing feature that I’m discovering at the moment. There’s nothing new content-wise, really, but expect more information on Marion’s projects as well as new scans after I’m back from my holiday at the end of the month.

In the meantime, why don’t you comment? Thanks :-)

p.s. the header features 3 rotating/random images…

I’ve added some more pictures of Marion travelling around to promote ‘La Vie en Rose’ (La Môme):
021 London – ‘La Môme’ Premiere, March 29, 2007 – Rendez-Vous with French Cinema
007 Stockholm – ‘La Môme’ Press Conference, March 20, 2007

My opinion

I have finally managed to get to the cinema and see ‘La Môme’ last week. I have seen almost every film (that’s available on DVD) with Marion Cotillard. I’ve been amazed by her performances many a time. However, I couldn’t describe her latest performance better than Variety did: “Versatile, always spot-on thesp Marion Cotillard surpasses herself.” She’s simply perfect! Although one recognizes Marion she is completely transformed and not once wavers in being Edith Piaf.

The film itself is something else of course. Well, it looks beautiful and the sound and colour on the big screen are not to be missed. But for someone like myself who is not familiar with the life of Edith Piaf, it is too confusing. One leaves the cinema with an idea who she was as a person but without a clear picture of her life.

Welcome to my little tribute page for Marion Cotillard. I’m very excited about her at the moment. I’ll keep this page really small – she has such a huge body of work that I couldn’t possibly keep up with it on a large scale. Feedback and contributions etc is very welcome! There’s still a little problem with my site host. Until then – no gallery. But it shouldn’t take too long and you’ll be able to enjoy pictures of Marion Cotillard as well!
