According to the IMDb Marion Cotillard and Javier Bardem are attached to star a new project called ‘Picasso‘ about the extraordinary life story of legendary artist, Pablo Picasso, written & directed by Bandar Albuliwi.

Probability: No other sources confirm this. The movie’s production company Bandar Productions lists the movie as being In Development on their website. Which means that nothing about the project has been finalized yet, incl. casting.

After the international promotional tour for ‘Public Enemies‘ but before somewhat disappearing from the limelight to prepare for her upcoming role in Guillaume Canet’s Les Petits Mouchoirs and to take a much deserved vacation (in St. Tropez) Marion Cotillard as the face of Lady Dior attended the Dior Haute Couture Autumn/Winter show during the Paris Fashion Week on July 6. She was pictured with President and Chief Executive Officer of Christian Dior Couture Sidney Toledano, John Galliano, Clotilde Courau and Nora Arnazeder.

“I loved the outside underwear and the black and flesh colors together,” said the petite actress Marion Cotillard, who was perched on Dior platform shoes so high she was on a level with Mr. Arnault. (source)

On a hot summer day earlier this month (July 2) Marion Cotillard attended the ‘Public Enemies’ Press Conference in the Hotel George-V in Paris. Later she joined Johnny Depp and Michael Mann on the red carpet for the big premiere. She signed many pictures, wore impressive Galliano red sequin shoes and was accompanied by her mother Niseema Theillaud.

Thanks to Marion-Cotillard.fr. Even though we still have to wait till September 8 to listen to Beds Are Burning – a song recorded by many stars, among them Marion Cotillard, in support of the Tck Tck Tck Campaign – we can now have a glimpse at the music video and the song on Facebook and MySpace

I added the small version of the signed promo picture, caps of the music video teaser as well as the teaser itself and a short clip of the New York Making Of where you can hear Marion’s singing and see her standing behind the microphone recording her parts for the song to the site’s media parts.

Beds Are Burning
(Dry River Bed Version)

Down at the river bed
The earth is cracked and dry instead
Farms are failing, cities baking
Steam in 45 degrees

The time has come
To take a stand
It’s for the earth
It’s for our land
The time has come
A fact’s a fact
The heat is on
No turning back

How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?

Heaven hopes we’ll find a cure
From Bejing west to Timbuktu
The global village lives and breathes
In 45 degrees

Presumably before or after the “La Fête du Cinema” Cocktail Lunch Marion also recorded an interview with French TV channel TF1. It aired during the evening news of July 1. I added captures and a clip. The audio is unfortunately out of sync with the video towards the end, but I couldn’t do a better job. Sorry.

I’m back from my summer travels for the time being so I can catch up on all those Marion news I missed during my absence. To start, I have the actual scans of the article I posted last time. The French publication ‘Le Figaro Magazine’ visited the Marrocan set of ‘Le dernier vol‘ and they published some new stills! So exciting!!

New French articles

This second batch of new interviews consists of French interviews and articles. If anyone has time to translate at least one or two of them that’d be great! This is the last update for a while as I’m leaving town again tomorrow and won’t be with internet access until at least next week.

The Sahara article is actually about Figaro Magazine‘s visit to the Le dernier vol set. We learn that the full name of Marion’s character is Marie Vallières de Beaumont.

Marion had an immediate visceral connection with Marie Vallières de Beaumont, this passionate woman who fights to rescue the man she loves to the point of exhaustion and who in the abandonment of the desert discovers a new meaning of life.

Marion Cotillard shares this perfectionism, she’s always extremely focused even for a short scene. The young Oscar winner has lost none of her naturality and simplicity though. Once we see her knitting a scarf for her niece. We’re amused to see her candidly confide her “unhealthy sentimentality” towards animals, including insects. Then the Marion we know is back, one evening she’s singing and dancing, together with a nomadic Berber family who arrived to work as extras on the film. “Like my character, I’ve found a lot more in the desert than I set out for: especially these smiles of the children!”
