Narrating ‘OceanWorld 3D’
As reported by Le Film Français last Thursday, Marion Cotillard will be narrating the documentary ‘Voyage sous les mers 3D‘, directed by Jean-Jacques Mantello and produced by his brother François. Thanks to her involvement the project will receive more attention from the media and thus help bring the importance of the environment’s protection more to people’s attention.
The film will be released in cinemas across France August 26, 2009. Titled ‘OceanWorld 3D‘ the documentary is also set for a US release in 2009, no specific date is yet available. However, my guess is that someone else will be providing the English narration (IMDb listing).
A tribute to the ocean, “Oceans 3D” takes viewers on a voyage through, among others, Californian kelp forests, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and Roca Partida Island off the coast of Mexico, which is home to thousands of sharks. Audiences will witness some of the most spectacular and unforgettable scenes of life beneath the waves ever captured in 3D: the manta ray’s enchanting ballet; the noble procession of hammerhead sharks; the lion fish’s relentless hunt; a group of young dolphins playing algae-football; the astonishing beauty of the Spanish dancer sea slug; and a unique encounter with the largest cetaceans on the planet.
More information about ‘Les Petits Mouchoirs’
Apart from the fact that Marion’s multiple former co-star (Love Me If You Dare and The Last Flight) and boyfriend Guillaume Canet is the script author and director of her new movie Les Petits Mouchoirs there are more connections. She will be re-united with former co-stars Gilles Lelouche (Love Me If You Dare and Ma vie en l’air) and Benoit Magimel (Lisa and Fair Play). Other cast members include Francois Cluzet, Anne Marivin and Jean Dujardin.
Here’s the synopsis for the $25 million tragicomedy which is scheduled to shoot for 12 weeks starting August 3 (4 in Paris, 8 in Cap Ferret):
A generational tragicomedy, “Mouchoirs” follows a group of friends from Paris to the coast at Cap Ferret near Bordeaux for their traditional summer holiday together. But the mood sobers as characters confess their innermost concerns.
“In the vein of ‘The Big Chill’ and ‘Peter’s Friends,’ ‘Mouchoirs’ mixes moments of high comedy and large emotions,” Attal said at Cannes, where he’s shopping Canet’s script to sales agents, distributors and Gallic TV operators.

“NINE” is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren). The film is directed by Rob Marshall (CHICAGO). The original 1982 Broadway production of “NINE,” with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

‘Public Enemies’ to premiere at LA Film Festival
Marion Cotillard’s upcoming film ‘Public Enemies‘ may contrary to rumours not get screened at the Cannes Film Festival but it will get a special world premiere at the 15th Annual Los Angeles Film Festival (June 18-28) ahead of its US release date July 1: it has just been announced that ‘Public Enemies‘ has been selected as Centerpiece Premiere. And Film.com lists Marion #8 in their “Top 10 Girls of Summer 2009″ list due to her role in the blockbuster by acclaimed director Michael Mann:
8. Marion Cotillard needed something huge to capitalize on her out-of-nowhere tour de force as sozzled songbird Edith Piaf in La Vie on Rose. Indie director Abel Ferrara’s Jesus-themed 2008 ego trip Mary was emphatically not what Marion needed. But as the gal pal of gangster John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) in Michael Mann’s opus Public Enemies, she may break out of the Gallic ghetto and into Hollywood proper. Will her feminine charm help give man’s man Mann what he needs to finally make a big-screen hit? We’re betting yes.
Well, Mary is really a 2005 production that just took a long time to be released in the States…
New or better movie stills
I’ve added some new movie stills to the gallery – and replaced some with better quality versions. Enjoy looking at pictures of Marion Cotillard’s characters in Taxi, Du bleu jusqu’en Amérique, Furia, La Guerre dans le Haut Pays, Taxi 2, Les jolies choses, Lisa, Big Fish, Cavalcade, La boîte noire and Dikkenek.
L’Histoire du garçon qui voulait qu’on l’embrasse – caps
As announced earlier, Marion Cotillard’s movie debut (after her professional acting debut in the TV series Highlander) L’Histoire du garçon qui voulait qu’on l’embrasse (English title: The Story of a Boy Who Wanted to Be Kissed) from the year 1994 recently aired on German TV. Paolo was once again more than helpful as he recorded it and thus enabled me to provide screencaptures of this rare movie for the gallery. Marion must have been about 18 years old when this was filmed. Enjoy!
