Marion Cotillard: Best of 2010

Welcome to 2011! I know I haven’t managed to add all the missing pictures from 2010 appearances and magazine features to the gallery but since I already skipped it last year for these reasons I decided to compile a review of 2010 nontheless. What are your choices? Feel free to comment!

Best News: Marion Cotillard being awarded the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival last January and ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) being the most successful French movie of the year. And of course Marion joining the French rock band Yodélice as Simone.

Worst News: After Marion’s participation in the oratorio ‘Jeanne au bûcher‘ was announced for November back in August we didn’t hear anything further. November came and went without the special performances happening. And 48 hours before the year ended Harry Potter passed ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) at the French box office keeping it from being the most successful movie of the year in France.

Favourite magazine cover:

As always Marion Cotillard graced quite a number of covers – all of which gorgeous. But I really like this from Jalouse – March 2010.

Satellite Awards 2007 & 2010

On Sunday the International Press Academy handed out the Satellite Awards. While Marion Cotillard didn’t win for her nominated supporting performance in ‘Inception‘ (Jacki Weaver did for ‘Animal Kingdom‘) the movie itself won in the categories ‘Original Score’ (Hans Zimmer), ‘Cinematography’ (Wally Pfister), and ‘Art Direction & Production Design’ – 3 wins out of 11 nominations.

But good news is that they uploaded Marion’s acceptance speech from when she won ‘Best Actress’ on December 16, 2007 for her performance in ‘La Vie en Rose‘. She wasn’t able to attend but recorded this lovely message from Paris.

Paris Match Scans & Back to School

As promised, I added scans of the new feature about Marion Cotillard and Maud Fontenoy in the latest issue of Paris Match. Unfortunately, the version of the cover with the 2 of them is only for the digital issue. The actual printed magazine has Prince William & Kate on the cover. So the quality of the cover in the gallery is not the best.

Kindly do not redistribute the magazine scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were scanned exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.

A few months ago, on October 8 – on a Friday after having taped the Vivement Dimanche show and skipped a local ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ premiere due to being too sick to attend earlier the same week – Marion Cotillard accompanied Maud Fontenoy to the Collège Valmy in Paris for the launch of the project ‘Saving Marine Biodiversity’. Also present were French Ecology Minister Jean-Louis Borloo and French Paris commissioner of education, Patrick Gerard. The Maud Fontenoy Foundation is supplying the educational kit to 7 031 schools in France. Marion Cotillard said that when she was the same age as the students there was no talk of biodiversity at school. Back then, people didn’t realize yet that the planet is degrading. So she encouraged the students to lern about the issue so that their generation can make a difference. Smilingly, she noted that seeing them learn about biodiversity makes her want to go back to school. Watch a video on Bioaddict.fr.

Marion Cotillard is on the cover of the new Paris Match in France – together with French sailor Maud Fontenoy. The pictures were taken mid-November in La Rochelle on Maud’s boat. The interview gives us insight into their collaboration that properly took after Marion attended the Maud Fontanoy Gala on world ocean’s day back in June. Check back later this week for more about their collaboration and the actual scans.

I don’t think I updated about this last year but I did in 2008 and 2007. Marion Cotillard is featured on the Most Beautiful Faces list for the 9th time – this year at #12. This is an international list and is different from your usual Sexiest… lists. Camilla Belle, Emma Watson and Tamsin Egerton occupy the first 3 spots. See the full list here.

The previously mentioned dolls created by Marion Cotillard herself and by Dior HOMME for Guillaume Canet have since been shown in the exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris with all the other dolls. This is the page for them on the official site. UNICEF’s press release reports that all the dolls were sold at an auction on Tuesday for a total of €285 000. Marion & Guillaume’s dolls were sold together for €4 000. The money will be used to help vaccinate thousands of children in Darfur.

Guest Appearance on Comedy Series ‘Platane’

Posted in: News & Rumours, TV,

In the beginning of 2011 the new comedy series ‘Platane‘ written by Éric Judor will start airing on Canal+. There will be 12 30-minute episodes. Many stars will be making a guest appearance, including Marion Cotillard, Monica Bellucci, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche, Matthieu Almaric, Vicent Cassel, Clotilde Coureau and Pierre Richard. Main actors will be Éric Judor, Jean-Baptiste Shelmerdine, Arnaud Henriet, Romain Berger, Hafid Ferdjioui and Ramzy. What is it all about?

One sad evening, Eric crashes into a tree – at 70 km/h. After a year in a coma while his comrade Ramzy’s landed a hit with “HP” (sequel to the “H” series), Eric has a revelation: he will get into Arthouse Cinema to prove that he can make a serious, profound and moving film. Despite general skepticism, he decides to write a sequel to “La Môme” (La Vie en Rose) and call it: “La Môme 2.0 Next Generation.” Surrounded by a production team with unproven skills, his clingy friend squatting at his place and rejected by the woman he attempts to win back… Will Eric find the strength to successfully complete this ambitious project which could forever change the image of French cinema?

Already the description sounds hilarious, can’t wait to hear more!
