From Vogue (India) / by Deep Kailey
She is Hollywood’s hottest French import. The face of the Lady Dior campaign, Marion Cotillard, talks travel, fashion and working with John Galliano
1. You shot for the campaign in four iconic cities. What was it like?
Each one was so special – Paris is my city; New York is the city I’d love to live in; Bejing was a new discovery for me; and London is the hub of culture and a great place to express yourself through fashion.
2. Would you travel to India for such a campaign?
India is a great idea; It fits in well with John’s [Galliano] vision. Fashion is inspired by the world, whether you’re physically travelling or travelling through the imagination of John’s creations.
3. You’re a fashion icon. How would you define your personal sense of style?
My style is timeless yet edgy. This is also how I feel about Dior. You can buy something now and still wear it five to 10 years down the line, and it will retain that edge.
4. What was it like working with John Cameron Mitchell and John Galliano?
I discovered Mitchell 10 years ago after being on a panel that judged his first film Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Galliano is the reason I work with Dior. It’s amazing how you can use fashion to express art and emotion.
5. You’re the face of the iconic Lady Dior handbag. What are the things we would find in your bag?
A book, organic handsanitiser and herbal tea, besides all the other stuff one keeps in a bag.
