In recent times I have not found as much joy in maintaining websites as I used to. Also I have many other important things I don’t want to neglect in real life. So after careful & long consideration I realized that saying goodbye to the world of fansites is the only way forward. Sadly, this means that I will also say goodbye to this website here. However, I am still a great admirer of Marion Cotillard. She’s an exceptional actress and I love her career and her choices. It’s really rare that you get talents, beauty and humanity all in one person – and that the person then also gets the opportunity to showcase this to the world like Marion. This together with the fact that I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into Magnifique Marion Cotillard means that I’d hate to see it deleted, merged or continued in a different spirit.
So I’m happy to tell you that Jess is the new owner of the site and while she too is very busy she’ll make sure that the site stays active and that the important news regarding Marion Cotillard’s career will be posted – as she has done already this month. In addition, Luise who has looked after the site in the past when I was away will also help out from time to time with posting the important news.
And once I have some more free time – but hopefully not in the too distant future – I will add the missing portrait sessions & magazine scans.
This is just a quick update to let you know that the main part of the website has been moved to the same host as the media parts. The site should perform much better now. Please let me know if you come across any problems. Unfortunately, there’s a slight problem with the domain settings for the video archive which means it can’t be reached. We’re aware of the situation and are trying to solve it as quickly as possible. Thank you very much for your patience.
After nearly 1.5 years Magnifique Marion Cotillard has a new look! Not only do we have a fantastic layout for the main site, Mycah from Purple Haze Inc. created also matching looks for our second domain marion-media.org where you can find the extensive Photo Gallery and Video Archive as well as for our Twitter Page. I’m so excited about the results and hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Thank you for leaving your comments.
The pictures for the layout are from the 2009 Madame Figaro shoot and in my opinion showcase the different aspects of Marion’s personality perfectly! The site should look fine in all browsers though the best result will be when using Firefox!
Thanks to Flor we have scans of Marion’s cover & interview from Spanish magazine Yo, Dona. The lovely photo shoot was actually realized for Chopard’s 150th anniversary. It’s an original interview, and here’s Flor’s summary for those of us who don’t speak Spanish:
It’s a very cute interview, actually. We learn that Marion studied Spanish for 5 years and that she was one of the best of her class but then she forgot it (while filming Nine, she tried to talk to Penelope Cruz in Spanish but she couldn’t join the sentences). She hopes she can study it again sometime. They ask her about Guillaume (as always) and she dodges the question very gracefully (as always). And then it’s more about the stuff we know: filming with Leo, La Vie en Rose changed her life, Dior, etc.
Kindly do not redistribute the magazine scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were scanned exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.
P.S. Some people mentioned that the pictures in the gallery seem to be of a smaller size than before. This is NOT the case. The new version of the gallery script resizes full-sized pictures to your screen resolution. If you right click on the photo and view properties, you will see that it says something like: 1,365px × 1,800px (scaled to 506px × 668px). This is done to allow a person with a slower connection or smaller monitor to see the full image instead of having to scroll. If the image is saved, it will save in its full original size.
To simplify the url to the gallery now that the old video archive has become redundant I moved the whole gallery installation to the root of marion-media.org. All links to the gallery here on the main site have been successfully updated! Except those in the old section of the site which are still pointing to the very first gallery installation. In due time, they too, should get updated.
I’m very sorry for the lack of updates recently. As I said in a comment to the last post my real life has been incredibly stressful. I’m slowly making my way back and hope to resume updating on here a bit more regularly. There’s a lot to catch up on and I have got a hold of all of Marion’s recent magazine features so expect some quality scans soon! Stay tuned & thank you for your patience.
The Playlist got hold of a ‘Contagion‘ script (probably the second to last draft before shooting starts this fall) and described the plot in details. It sounds very intriguing. The movie is as much about the way that information can spread virally in the Web 2.0 age, as it is about the spread of the virus. Expect thriller – but not one packed with action scenes: it’s really more of a mystery, almost a detective story, as the various characters desperately search for the “index patient,” and a vaccine for the virus.
Speaking of characters: Marion Cotillard plays a European doctor named Leonora Orantes who works for the World Health Organization and heads to Hong Kong to investigate what appears to be the genesis spot of the breakout. Kate Winslet plays a similar character, Dr. Erin Mears, who is sent to examine Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow), who appears first in the movie, flying back from a business trip in Hong Kong and falling sick with the new desease, at home in Minnesota, Laurence Fishburne is Dr. Ellis Cheever, head of the Center for Disease Control. Beth Emhoff’s husband Thomas is played by Matt Damon and Jude Law plays Alan Krumwiede, a hungry, truthseeking blogger with an unfortunate interest in conspiracy theories, who is responsible for spreading information about the disease, both true and false, around the world.
The Playlist guesses that since Marion Cotillard and Kate Winslet are carrying the bulk of the investigative work they will probably have less showy parts but seeing them in roles they haven’t played before should keep the movie fresh. They also think that ‘Contagion‘ could be a major awards contender if it holds up to its promise.

3 years after getting international recognition when ‘La Vie en Rose‘ celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, Marion Cotillard could actually come back to Germany. Yesterday, the festival announced their line-up for the “Berlin Special” Gala screenings at the upcoming 60th Berlin International Film Festival. ‘Nine‘ is one of them – and it will actually be the festival’s Birthday Special screening ahead of its theatrical release in Germany. Upon inquiry by Welt Online they could not yet confirm any of the star’s appearances, though. Let’s hope Marion will attend!
On a sidenote, our site has been listed on The Fan Carpt and please stay tuned for our in-depth coverage of Marion’s Critics Choice and Golden Globe Award appearances. Thank you for your patience
You may have noticed in the last post that the audio clips section – which used to be in the old video archive – are back! I continued working on it today and now everything I had on the computer is up on the site! So if you come across more audio interviews with Marion – especially in English – please let me know!
