Thanks to Flor we have scans of Marion’s cover & interview from Spanish magazine Yo, Dona. The lovely photo shoot was actually realized for Chopard’s 150th anniversary. It’s an original interview, and here’s Flor’s summary for those of us who don’t speak Spanish:
It’s a very cute interview, actually. We learn that Marion studied Spanish for 5 years and that she was one of the best of her class but then she forgot it (while filming Nine, she tried to talk to Penelope Cruz in Spanish but she couldn’t join the sentences). She hopes she can study it again sometime. They ask her about Guillaume (as always) and she dodges the question very gracefully (as always). And then it’s more about the stuff we know: filming with Leo, La Vie en Rose changed her life, Dior, etc.
007 Scans from 2010 > Yo, Dona (Spain) – July 24, scanned by Flor
Kindly do not redistribute the magazine scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were scanned exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.
P.S. Some people mentioned that the pictures in the gallery seem to be of a smaller size than before. This is NOT the case. The new version of the gallery script resizes full-sized pictures to your screen resolution. If you right click on the photo and view properties, you will see that it says something like: 1,365px × 1,800px (scaled to 506px × 668px). This is done to allow a person with a slower connection or smaller monitor to see the full image instead of having to scroll. If the image is saved, it will save in its full original size.

Today I finished what I set out to do over a year ago! I transferred all video clips from the old to the new video archive – bringing the total count in the new archive to 250. There’s nothing really new except 2 videos: Cinema.nl – Interview and CBS News – 2007/06/17.
To simplify the url to the gallery now that the old video archive has become redundant I moved the whole gallery installation to the root of marion-media.org. All links to the gallery here on the main site have been successfully updated! Except those in the old section of the site which are still pointing to the very first gallery installation. In due time, they too, should get updated.

I’m very sorry for the lack of updates recently. As I said in a comment to the last post my real life has been incredibly stressful. I’m slowly making my way back and hope to resume updating on here a bit more regularly. There’s a lot to catch up on and I have got a hold of all of Marion’s recent magazine features so expect some quality scans soon! Stay tuned & thank you for your patience.
The Playlist got hold of a ‘Contagion‘ script (probably the second to last draft before shooting starts this fall) and described the plot in details. It sounds very intriguing. The movie is as much about the way that information can spread virally in the Web 2.0 age, as it is about the spread of the virus. Expect thriller – but not one packed with action scenes: it’s really more of a mystery, almost a detective story, as the various characters desperately search for the “index patient,” and a vaccine for the virus.
Speaking of characters: Marion Cotillard plays a European doctor named Leonora Orantes who works for the World Health Organization and heads to Hong Kong to investigate what appears to be the genesis spot of the breakout. Kate Winslet plays a similar character, Dr. Erin Mears, who is sent to examine Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow), who appears first in the movie, flying back from a business trip in Hong Kong and falling sick with the new desease, at home in Minnesota, Laurence Fishburne is Dr. Ellis Cheever, head of the Center for Disease Control. Beth Emhoff’s husband Thomas is played by Matt Damon and Jude Law plays Alan Krumwiede, a hungry, truthseeking blogger with an unfortunate interest in conspiracy theories, who is responsible for spreading information about the disease, both true and false, around the world.
The Playlist guesses that since Marion Cotillard and Kate Winslet are carrying the bulk of the investigative work they will probably have less showy parts but seeing them in roles they haven’t played before should keep the movie fresh. They also think that ‘Contagion‘ could be a major awards contender if it holds up to its promise.

3 years after getting international recognition when ‘La Vie en Rose‘ celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, Marion Cotillard could actually come back to Germany. Yesterday, the festival announced their line-up for the “Berlin Special” Gala screenings at the upcoming 60th Berlin International Film Festival. ‘Nine‘ is one of them – and it will actually be the festival’s Birthday Special screening ahead of its theatrical release in Germany. Upon inquiry by Welt Online they could not yet confirm any of the star’s appearances, though. Let’s hope Marion will attend!

After over 7 months a new layout was more than needed. The talented Natalie (who already designed the header for our second site layout) designed this timeless and elegant layout based on the Paris Lady Dior Print Campaign a while ago and finally I got round to code it for the site. I hope you are as excited as I am about the new look!
The site looks perfect in a Firefox browser but should work fine with others too. If you encounter problems though please let me know, thanks!
Additionally to the new layout the sidebar has (finally) been updated with all the new Marion Cotillard projects and some important dates for the upcoming 2 months!

I’ve diligently transferred all the existing video clips of Marion at public appearances from the old to the new archive – bringing the total count in the new archive to 110. I’ve also added 4 new clips: 2006 Cannes Festival, 2007 Hollywood Awards Interview (by a rather ignorant reporter…) and 2009 Oscars Backstage & Red Carpet.
And here’s the transcript of what Marion said to Kate Winslet during the recent Oscar ceremony:
Kate Winslet, with each new role you continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Your brilliant performance in “The Reader” encompasses all the qualities that have always drawn us to you: passion, vulnerability and extraordinary depth. As your character move through time, love and the most dire of circumstances we, as your audience Kate, never lose a connection to you. This is yet another unforgettable portrait from one of our most gifted actresses and one of our most inspiring. Thank you!
And something cute I found online:
Fresh off her emotional acceptance speech, best actress Oscar winner Kate Winslet was still shaking when she came backstage.
“Oh my God. Oh my god. Did I make any sense?” she asked presenter Marion Cotillard.
“Totally. Don’t worry,” Cotillard, last year’s winner, told her.
“I’ve got to phone my kids,” Winslet, still shaking, said as she headed toward a hallway.

I transferred all the movie trailers & clips of projects with Marion Cotillard from the old video archive and added also a few more, all I could find, actually. Among them a rare trailer for “Lisa“. There are now also French trailers for “A Good Year” and “Big Fish” as she provided her voice for the French versions as well. I also added a few trailers with either English audio or subtitles, e.g. for “Mary” or “Burnt Out“. In addition, I added some DVD Extras for “Jeux d’enfants“, “Taxi 2“, “La Boîte Noire” and “Les Jolies Choses“. There are now a total of 63 videos in the new archive – more to come!

Artist Biagio Black (www.biagio.tv) announces the inclusion of his “JUNOESQUE” collection at the 2008 little black dress pop-up boutique. The series was created specifically for the philanthropic event and features 6 foot tall portraits of celebrities including Keira Knightley, Eva Green, and Marion Cotillard in little black dresses. Sales from Black’s exhibit support the Junior League of Los Angeles.
A fashion-forward who’s who of Los Angeles will attend the opening reception of the “JUNOESQUE” exhibit on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 pm at the little black dress “Canvas and Couture” event at The Sunset, 8570 W. Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The artwork will be viewable and available for purchase until Sunday, October 12th.
“Every painting in Biagio’s exhibit captures the essence of being a woman. Their bold colors and expressive complexions showcase every aspect of a woman’s personality: from the sexy vixen to the girl next door,” said Emmy Cortes Kasten, little black dress’ founder. “I feel that his artwork echoes the range of the classic ‘little black dress’ from the formal gala to the casual dinner with a friend.”
“These pieces range from cool to dark dreams. Iconic, distant, soulful. These women are pop culture royalty. The fact that these classism killers are fashionable is inevitable. These iconographic works offer images in simple hi-contrast forms that follow essence,” notes Black.
The buzz around the JUNOESQUE series from private showings has already resulted in numerous commissions for portraitures. Black is currently working on a new series that explores the relationship between celebrity, royalty, and prostitution.
In other news, I have found a solution for the gallery on Friday evening. Ever since my computer hasn’t been turned off, constantly downloading the files from the server and uploading to the new one. Stay tuned!

After almost 8 months I have installed a new layout for the site. I know I’m a bit late – it’s been already 3 weeks – but I decided to put up a layout in honour of Marion Cotillard’s Oscar win. In view of time restraints I haven’t put up new content except for an overview of all the previous site layouts. Also you will find that the gallery features a new theme and additional functionality, hopefully making it more accessible and interactive.

Welcome to 2008! We would like to spend the first day of the new year looking back on 2007. What a year for Marion Cotillard! Promotion for La Vie en Rose in France started in January, the film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February and then continued to be released in one country after another. Marion Cotillard accompanied the promotion team around the globe. Final stop was Japan – she only skipped the South America tour. Afterwards she started to support Picturehouse‘s awards campaign. We’ve been treated to some amazing news & picture coverage meanwhile and let’s all hope when the Oscar nominations will be announced next month Marion’s name will be among them!
