‘The Immigrant‘ has been in French cinemas since November 27 and in parts of Switzerland since December 11. On January 9, 2014 it will be released in Italy as ‘C’era una volta a New York‘ (Once upon a time in New York) and on February 14 in Japan. This brought about new pictures and interviews.

As you may have noticed Sofia came on board just before the Cannes Film Festival to help keep the site stay updated. She’s been doing a great job with adding all the latest info, HQ event pics & magazine scans. Not only that but she also added new HQ pictures of Marion Cotillard’s early TV appearances. Thank you! Be sure to check them out!
On December 28, 2002 Marion Cotillard appeared on the first edition of French TV Show “Défis des stars” (Challenges for stars). Directed by Pascal Duchêne and moderated by Nikos Aliagas and Star Academy finalist Eva 20 brave actors, singers and comedians faced challenges that revolved around the circus such as animal training, juggling, magic and cabaret acts. Marion performed using a magic wand. Judging by the screencaps by Erik she was also an assistant in one of the magic acts. Fellow participants included her co-stars from ‘Taxi‘ (Samy Nacéri performed with 4 tigres from Circus Yann Gruss and Frédéric Diefenthal with bears from Circus Phénix) and ‘Les jolies choses‘ (Ophélie Winter performed on aerial silk and Titoff in another act). Elie Semoun, Véronique Genest, Gérard Jugnot, L5, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Grégori Baquet, Anthony Kavanagh, Patrick Timsit and Pascal Sellem were also part of the show.
Moderator Nikos said in advance: “I don’t know whether it will work for viewers. But I think it’s very nice to see the stars in different roles, to see them in burlesque, funny or dangerous situations. There will be music, entertainment, it will be a party. It’s the end of the year, so we will finish it in a good mood, with completely original and magical images.” And they succeeded for the newspaper Le Parisien later called it an original evening.
Does anybody have videos of any of the shows we’ve added pictures of – or of Marion Cotillard’s other television appearances? Please send them in, we’d be very thankful!

One down, one to go! Marion shone at Cannes on Monday for the premiere of her first film in the festival, Guillaume Canet’s Blood Ties. Early in the day, wearing a gorgeous Antonio Berardi dress, she attended the photocall for the film alongside Guillaume, Zoe Saldana, Clive Owen and James Caan. She seemed to be having a lot of fun laughing about with Zoe and signing autographs for the fans upon arrival.
The traditional press conference ensued and Marion was complimented on her Italian accent by an Italian journalist. A very fun moment where she said she wanted to kiss him! You can watch the press conference on the Official Festival site with English voice over.
Later in the evening the premiere took place. Marion looked stunning in a strapless Dior gown as she walked the red carpet with her co-stars. After the premiere, they headed out for the After Party and cocktail hosted by Dior. Marion changed into a simpler, black Dior gown for the party.
I have added photos from the entire day to the gallery as well as the poster and trailer for Blood Ties.
Finally, with the premiere of The Immigrant taking place this Friday, here are a couple of articles about the film you might enjoy reading:

Marion Cotillard and her ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ co-star Gary Oldman star in David Bowie’s new music video ‘The Next Day‘, the title track of his latest album. The clip was written and conceived by David Bowie himself and directed by Floria Sigismondi.
The video shows Gary Oldman in priest’s garb punching a beggar on his way into a brothel-looking club. Inside, in one corner, a man whips his bloody back. In another scene, a cardinal passes out cash to scantily clad dancers. A woman with a veil drawn over her face has a platter with two eyeballs staring up from it. There’s also a praying nun. Gary Oldman’s priest joins other priests dirty dancing with prostitutes. Marion Cotillard and her scantily clad colleagues go along with the priests’ requests with looks of complete disinterest. All the while David Bowie sings in a monk’s robe – or some say he’s dressed up as Jesus – from the corner of the room and seems to condemn Oldman’s actions. Cotillard swivels seductively, only to collapse with blood pouring from her stigmata wounds before rising again like a saint.
YouTube temporarily pulled the clip hours after its release yesterday because it violated the site’s Terms of Service (probably due to graphic religious imagery and gore) but re-instated it 2 hours later with an adult-only rating for its graphic content. A spokesperson told Billboard via email that it was taken down by mistake. “With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call. When it’s brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it.”
Marion Cotillard is a fan of David Bowie. She previously performed the David Bowie song ‘Velvet Goldmine’ as a duo with Yodelice on the French TV Show Taratata back in November 2010. On the same show she chose David Bowie for her personal Taratata show – “because he’s a real genius and there’s really no need to say more about him.”
