Marion Cotillard quite unlike we’ve seen her before! ‘Le Débarquement‘ the huge live comedy event on Canal+ this past Friday evening by Jean Dujardin, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche together with Alex Lutz, Laurent Lafitte and Nicolas Bedos and many more actors & some guests also featured a number of pre-recorded segments. One involved Monsieur Picco – played by Guillaume Canet – seeking treatment of a beauty surgeon – played by Jean Dujardin – at a private clinic for his dear wife Nathalie because she’s suffering from a rare kind of shyness and afraid of being seen in public. Little wonder because she’s actually a bear. Cut to 16 months later – and Nathalie now is still a bear but looks like Marion Cotillard! It seems he’s not as happy with the result as expected – he fears he has now lost his wife – but she’s more than happy once she’s got her honey pot!

Le Débarquement

On Friday 18 January, Marion will be taking part in ‘Le Débarquement’, which will air live on Canal+ at 8:50pm.

A bit about ‘Le Débarquement’:

The idea came about when Jean Dujardin, Gilles Lellouche and Guillaume Canet wanted to do something in the style of Saturday Night Live and Funny or Die in France.

It is above all an adventure of friends, the desire to play, laugh together, and invite everyone to participate.
The Landing is a series of skits, with a freedom of tone.
A bit like some American shows, it was also an opportunity to “mix” actors and actresses “recognized” with lesser known actors but the talented blast
From the outset, the deal was clear to all: leave the ego at home, we accept self-mockery and is not calculated. It goes back into the ridiculous or absurd if necessary. It explodes.

In an interview with Dujardin, Lellouche and Canet, Marion’s name was mentioned as one of the guests.

Can you give us some guests that will accompany you?
Laurent Lafitte, Nicolas Bedos, Géraldine Nakache, Alexandra Lamy, Melanie Doutey, Marion Cotillard, Alex Lutz and others but we will not tell you everything now …

At this stage it is an one-off event, but they are hoping if it is a ratings success, it  may come back for future installments.

Guest Appearance on Comedy Series ‘Platane’

In the beginning of 2011 the new comedy series ‘Platane‘ written by Éric Judor will start airing on Canal+. There will be 12 30-minute episodes. Many stars will be making a guest appearance, including Marion Cotillard, Monica Bellucci, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lellouche, Matthieu Almaric, Vicent Cassel, Clotilde Coureau and Pierre Richard. Main actors will be Éric Judor, Jean-Baptiste Shelmerdine, Arnaud Henriet, Romain Berger, Hafid Ferdjioui and Ramzy. What is it all about?

One sad evening, Eric crashes into a tree – at 70 km/h. After a year in a coma while his comrade Ramzy’s landed a hit with “HP” (sequel to the “H” series), Eric has a revelation: he will get into Arthouse Cinema to prove that he can make a serious, profound and moving film. Despite general skepticism, he decides to write a sequel to “La Môme” (La Vie en Rose) and call it: “La Môme 2.0 Next Generation.” Surrounded by a production team with unproven skills, his clingy friend squatting at his place and rejected by the woman he attempts to win back… Will Eric find the strength to successfully complete this ambitious project which could forever change the image of French cinema?

Already the description sounds hilarious, can’t wait to hear more!

I’m very sorry for the delay but I finally have an update about Les enfants de la télé for you. Marion Cotillard & Guillaume Canet together with the majority of the ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ cast appeared on the French TV show where they show old, rare and funny clips of the guests on September 25, 2010. A HUGE thank you to Melfan for her tremendous help with this – without her this post wouldn’t have been possible!

They showed the following Marion-related clips: 2008 Award montage, 16 year old Marion in a campaign against drinking (Tu t’es vu quand t’as bu), 7 and 8 year old Marion in TV movies by Claude Cailloux (La monde des tout petits & Lucie), Dance routine ‘Take it All’ in Nine, Forehead Tittaes and 18 year old Marion in TV series Extrême Limite.

Back in 1994, an 18 to 19 year old Marion Cotillard was part of the French TF1 series ‘Extrême Limite‘ where she played Sophie Colbert, the daughter of the director of an elite sports academy at the Côte d’Azur. To my knowledge she appeared in episodes #10 and #41 of the first season. Please let me know if she appeared in any additional episodes.

There’s some confusion with the DVD releases as they’re splitting episodes from the first season into different box sets as well as labelling some of them ‘Season 2′. Marion’s episodes can be watched on the following DVD Box Sets: Saison 1, partie 1 and Saison 2, partie 1. Added screencaptures of Marion’s 2nd episode today.

‘Chloé’ Screencaptures

Earlier this week ‘Chloé‘ was released on DVD in France (Buy). The TV movie from 1996 comes with no extras and no subtitles – just the plain film in the original French language. The movie was hard to come by up until now and no doubt because of Marion Cotillard’s recent Oscar win France 2 decided to release this film on DVD now.

Note how the DVD cover reads “Marion Cotillard, Oscar and César for Best Actress in ‘La Vie en Rose’, in her first role. Featuring the music of ‘L’hymne à l’amour’ by Edith Piaf”. It must be stated however, that although Chloé was indeed one of Marion’s first roles it was not the first. That’d be the role of Lori Bellian in an episode of ‘Highlander’ – also directed by Chloé director Dennis Berry.

I’ve had a low quality version of the movie for a while but never managed to make screencaptures from it. Now that the film is available on DVD I couldn’t resist buying it even though I have to admit that this is my absolute least favourite movie out of Marion’s resumee. Nontheless, she gives a very strong, powerful and harrowing performance, really remarkable – especially considering she was only just 20 years old at the time and at the beginning of her acting career.
