To promote ‘Le dernier vol‘ Marion Cotillard graces the cover of tomorrow’s Madame Figaro – for the 3rd time this year! Thanks to Mariana I added the scans to the gallery.
• Marion Cotillard, les ailes de la gloire, Madame Figaro, December 12, 2009
And another TV Alert Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet will appear on 20 heures, which airs on France 2, on Sunday, December 13, 2009.
I added the scans from the December issues of both the UK and the Japanese Harper’s Bazaar. Many thanks Lorna and Kelly for scanning the features for us!
I also added a transcript of the UK magazine – it’s mostly to promote Beds are burning, but also Nine. It has information about Marion’s engagement for the environment that previously only French publications have written about. Obviously, I don’t understand the Japanese article but it’s to promote ‘Public Enemies‘.
• Siren Song, Harper’s Bazaar (UK), December 2009
[edit:] Links are now working! Sorry, don’t know what had happened!
Lots of ‘Le dernier vol‘ goodies: I added more gorgeous posters and stills to the gallery as well as totally adorable behind the scenes pictures. They’re quite small but lovely nonetheless. Additionally, I added some interviews and background information about the movie to the press archive. This is all in French, so if someone would like to provide translations, you’re very welcome to do so! All of this comes from the French Production Notes, many thanks Nadine for sharing!
Vogue has put the Nine article from the upcoming November issue online. There’s not much about Marion, though:
• Prima Time, Vogue (US), November 2009
Finally, I see Marion Cotillard singing “My Husband Makes Movies” while performing a dazzlingly chic striptease. When I talk to her by phone a few weeks later, Marion, who speaks with a delightful French accent, tells me, “It’s been my dream to do an American musical. When I was a child, Annie was my favorite. I just never thought I would get to do it.” Of playing opposite Daniel Day-Lewis, Cotillard says, “It’s easy to work with such an amazing artist.” Because he was always in character, “it gives an energy to the crew. He creates this desire in everyone to be at their best.”
Marion Cotillard narrated the forthcoming ‘Voyage sous les mers 3d‘ by the brothers Jean-Jacques & François Mantello. The film opens in French theatres next week, August 26. According to the movie’s official site as of today there will be 4 advanced screenings with the presence of the directors. Not sure, if that’ll include Marion on at least one of the screenings? Maybe she’s too busy shooting ‘Inception‘ (although I think they were only shooting in Paris for 3 days) or she went back to the set of ‘Les Petits Mouchoirs‘ again already.
Anyway, I added the French interview with Marion from the production notes, the video interview from MenStyle.fr, the trailer, the poster as well as a picture of Marion behind the microphone to the media sections.
Maybe someone could provide English translations soon? That’d be awesome. In the meantime a short summary. We learn that Marion was intrigued by the project as soon as she heard about it. She was approached while filming ‘Le dernier vol‘ in the Sahara. She’s done some diving herself and was amazed by the wonders of the ocean. According to her watching ‘Voyage sous les mers 3d‘ will feel like a real dive.

This second batch of new interviews consists of French interviews and articles. If anyone has time to translate at least one or two of them that’d be great! This is the last update for a while as I’m leaving town again tomorrow and won’t be with internet access until at least next week.

The Sahara article is actually about Figaro Magazine‘s visit to the Le dernier vol set. We learn that the full name of Marion’s character is Marie Vallières de Beaumont.
Marion had an immediate visceral connection with Marie Vallières de Beaumont, this passionate woman who fights to rescue the man she loves to the point of exhaustion and who in the abandonment of the desert discovers a new meaning of life.
Marion Cotillard shares this perfectionism, she’s always extremely focused even for a short scene. The young Oscar winner has lost none of her naturality and simplicity though. Once we see her knitting a scarf for her niece. We’re amused to see her candidly confide her “unhealthy sentimentality” towards animals, including insects. Then the Marion we know is back, one evening she’s singing and dancing, together with a nomadic Berber family who arrived to work as extras on the film. “Like my character, I’ve found a lot more in the desert than I set out for: especially these smiles of the children!”
I added a bunch of new interviews & articles to the press archive:
• Marion Cotillard on Public Enemies, CanMag, July 6

Then Lorna sent in some exclusive scans of a UK publication – huge thank you! – and I added also 2 pictures of a French magazine sent in by Paolo:
Finally! ‘Public Enemies‘ can be seen in US theatres as of today! Be sure to head out and watch Marion’s first movie since ‘La Vie en Rose‘ (2007). The movie will open in the UK July 3, in France July 8, in Australia July 30, and in Germany August 6 (see more dates).
Check out the many features on the movie’s official site! And read some new interviews:
Next, Marion Cotillard’s scheduled to promote ‘Public Enemies‘ in her home country France. First, she’ll attend the movie’s premiere in Paris tomororrow.
On Friday she’s the star guest of Radio RTL. In the morning (9.00-9.30 am) she’ll be interviewed during a programm called Laissez-vous tenter and in the afternoon she’ll participate in the programme La tête dans les étoiles together with Laurent Boyer. And in the evening there will be a screening of the movie in Lyon.
As previously announced, there’ll be a TV interview titled Marion Cotillard, la rencontre (20 minutes) airing on Canal+, Sunday 11.55 am.
I’m in and out of town this and next week but I’ll try to update the site as much as possible.
I have been working behind the scenes these past few days getting new material prepared and ready to upload to the site – so stay tuned!
