Marion Cotillard in the Philippines for Climate Justice

Marion Cotillard in the Philippines for Climate Justice

Marion Cotillard has spent the past two days in Manila, in the Philippines accompanying French President François Hollande in a visit to the country to support actions against climate change. Marion has since long been an activist for climate change and has worked with Greenpeace for a few years now. She joined the efforts of Greenpeace in Philippines and spoke in support of better measures against climate change and for environment protection.

We want to share our thoughts on the issues of climate change. It’s not just the climate change but the survival of the millions of people on this planet. [The] Philippines of course, is one of the first countries which are aware that something should be done.

I have added photos of the event to the gallery:

There’s also a video of Marion’s speech on Thursday night. The video is unfortunately in French, I will try to translate it as soon as possible:

Jeanne au Bûcher to be released on DVD in March

Jeanne au Bûcher to be released on DVD in March

I just found out that Marion’s performance in Barcelona of  Jeanne au Bûcher (Joan at the Stake) is going to be released on DVD on March 10. Although the video was released at the time, this is a great opportunity to watch and rewatch Marion’s outstanding performance as Joan of Arc.

Pre order the DVD on Amazon France.

Marion has several performances scheduled as Joan of Arc this year. She performed in Monaco and Toulouse on the 8th and 14th of February, respectively. She will resume her performances in Paris on the 4th and 5th of March and then go on to perform in New York City in June. If you can, don’t miss it. It’s a brilliant performance. I’ll be attending the one on the 4th in Paris and will report back!

Marion Cotillard joins Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed

Marion Cotillard joins Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed

Marion Cotillard has reportedly signed up to a role in the new Justin Kurzel production. The film, Assassin’s Creed is an adaptation of the Ubisoft video game released in November last year, and which has sold 91 million units so far.

They’re keeping under wraps the role that Cotillard plays, but she’s a versatile actress who won the Oscar for La Vie En Rose, and also played an action role inThe Dark Knight Rises. Like Fassbender, her role is meant to span multiple films if this one scores and becomes a franchise.

Marion will team up with Michael Fassbender for the second time, as the two have worked in Kurzel’s previous production, Macbeth. Production will start in the fall and the release is scheduled December 2016.

Awards and nominations update

Awards and nominations update

Even though Marion has been snubbed by the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globe Awards, she has been widely acclaimed by critics everywhere for both her performance in The Immigrant and Two Days, One Night. She has been receiving so many accolades that I thought it would be best to group them all here instead of making a post for each. So here we go:

The Village Voice Film Poll has named both her performances as the best ones in the Leading Actress Category, followed by Scarlett Johansson, Essie Davis, Rosamund Pike and Julianne Moore. You can see the full list here.

She has won the award for Best Actress by San Diego Film Critics.

Indiewire named Marion Cotillard Best Lead Actress for Two Days, One Night in their Yeah End Critics Poll.

She has been nominated in the Leading Actress category at the Critics Choice Awards for Two Days, One Night. The awards will be held on January 15.

And best of all: we had announced her nomination for Best Actress at the European Film Awards. The winners were announced on December 13 and Marion was among them! She received the award for Best European Actress for Two Days, One Night. Marion couldn’t be at the ceremony so she sent in a text message to thank them for it and also posted a thank you note on her Instagram account:

Thank you #europeanfilmawards #europeanfilmacademy for such an honor! You make me very very happy! Luc & Jean-Pierre I love you guys so much! Dardenne rock! #love #cinema #Belgium #twodaysonenight

Congratulations to Marion Cotillard for all of the accolades! She certainly deserves them, her work is awe inspiring. And while she didn’t figure among nominees for the SAGs and Golden Globes, she can still make the list for the BAFTA’s, César’s and Academy Awards. Fingers crossed!
