More awards for Marion Cotillard! The votes for the 2007 NRJ Cine Awards were in and Marion won ‘Frenchie of the year’ and ‘Best Look’ for her turn as Edith Piaf in La Môme – and the film itself won ‘Top Box Office’.
If anyone caught it on TV last night, do you have clips of Marion’s appearance? It will be re-aired this weekend on France’s NRJ12 Saturday at midnight and next week on Wednesday at 0.50 am. Can anybody who gets that channel be on the lookout for Marion and make clips for this site? That’d be amazing!
Here the pictures I’ve been able to find so far:
Many thanks go to Caladonia and Karen for informing me about this great Marion Cotillard news – while I’m actually preparing to go on a short trip. Variety – and others – are reporting the following:
Marion Cotillard will receive the breakthrough performance award for her work as chanteuse Edith Piaf in “La Vie en rose” at the 19th Palm Springs Film Festival. Thesp will be presented with the nod at in a gala ceremony at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Jan. 5.
“Marion Cotillard delivers a tour de force performance as legendary singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, which is sure to be recognized throughout this year’s awards season,” Festival chairman Earl Greenburg said in a statement. “This is truly one of the year’s breakthrough performances, and we’re delighted to recognize her for this outstanding role.”
Also the always helpful and lovely Mariana has made marion-cotillard.org her Spotlight at her Sarah Polley website. Many THANKS! Be sure to head over and visit this great source on the Canadian actress/director.
Marion Cotillard is nominated for 2 NRJ Ciné Awards for her performance in ‘La Vie en Rose’ – the awards seem to be something like a French version of MTV or Teen Choice Awards. So, go and vote for her! Just click the boxes ‘Vote!’ (The film itself is nominated as well)
• ‘La Frenchie de l’année’ (Frenchie of the Year)
• ‘Meilleur look’ (Best Look)
This great news just came in via Variety:
The Hollywood Film Festival has tapped Marion Cotillard to receive its Hollywood Breakthrough Actress of the Year Award.
Kudo will be presented at the festival’s Oct. 22 awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.
The org cited Cotillard’s performance in Olivier Dahan’s “La Vie en rose.” Previous recipients of the Hollywood breakthrough honors include Jamie Foxx, Jake Gyllenhaal, Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Naomi Watts.
Everyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose already (the film has just opened in the UK and USA) will agree that her performance is worthy of every award out there. So it will come as no surprise to us that Marion Cotillard has been awarded the award (Swann d’0r which means Golden Swan) for Best Actress at the 21st Cabourg Romantic Film Festival in France on June 16. This is certainly the first of many more to come. Congratulations!!!
Awarded the Best Actor trophy was Guillaume Canet. The 2 visited the festival before – also together – in 2003 to promote Love Me If You Dare.
Considering Marion Cotillard hasn’t signed up for a new project to follow up ‘La Môme’ yet and her statement that she would like to take a break for a while you may find the following interesting: A local newspaper reports her saying at the festival that she still has “a ‘hunger’ for new roles and more beautiful stories to tell”. Isn’t that a relief?
Many thanks for the help with the pictures goes once again to Mariana!
