As announced earlier, Marion Cotillard’s movie debut (after her professional acting debut in the TV series Highlander) L’Histoire du garçon qui voulait qu’on l’embrasse (English title: The Story of a Boy Who Wanted to Be Kissed) from the year 1994 recently aired on German TV. Paolo was once again more than helpful as he recorded it and thus enabled me to provide screencaptures of this rare movie for the gallery. Marion must have been about 18 years old when this was filmed. Enjoy!

Gaumont – the company producing ‘Le dernier vol‘ – lists the movie on their homepage with a picture. It’s the first picture from the movie and doesn’t the dreamy picture of Marion as aviator make you want to see the movie like right now?!

Another project with Guillaume Canet?

Thanks Kit for directing me to an article at WWD.com which talks about Marion arriving for a fitting ahead of the upcoming Costume Institute ball. Read the article in the press archive. There are two things we learn:

1) There’s a new 7-minute film in support of the Lady Dior handbag that will debut on the Internet next month

2) Up next for Marion after Inception “a French film by her boyfriend – and “Lancaster” co-star – Guillaume Canet”

about aviator look in Le dernier vol:
I love that look: the helmet, the goggles, the jacket, everything. It’s very masculine. You feel confident

If anyone comes across a better version of the trailer for bigger screencaptures please don’t hesitate to tell me, thanks!

Marion in talks to star in ‘Inception’

Great news, I hope this is really happening! Variety reports that Warner Bros. is in talks with Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page to join the cast of “Inception,” which Christopher Nolan wrote and will direct as his next film. Leonardo DiCaprio has already been set to star. Filming is set to begin this summer for a 2010 release.

What is it about? Apparently, “the subject matter has been kept under tight wraps, with the studio describing the film as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” But The Hollywood Reporter has a bit more information:

However, as the casting process progresses, details are beginning to leak out. DiCaprio’s character is mentioned as a CEO-type, while Cotillard would play his wife. Page is a young college grad student and DiCaprio’s sidekick.”

What do we know about “Le dernier vol”?

Posted in: Movies, News & Rumours,

I’ve been trying to find confirmation of the start of shooting for Marion Cotillard’s new movie Le dernier vol (The Last Flight). While I haven’t exactly been able to find it everything I did find seemed to confirm the previously reported date of March 9. Also the movie’s main producer Gaumont mentioned the movie in their March 5 newsletter and said it was set for a release in November 2009! Wow! [edit:] And apparently the shooting will last for 8 weeks – till the end of April 2009.

I added a photoshopped poster (with the “international” title The Last Flight) that someone took a picture of during the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, where the producers tried to secure finances. Also, I need to point out that despite something I read online somewhen last year everything points to this film not only being French in terms of producers (additionally, France 3 and Canal + are co-producing) but also in terms of language – which makes sense actually.

On another note I came across a new synopsis of the film’s story here. Does that mean the film will only be loosely inspired by real-life couple Chubbie Miller and Bill Lancaster?! I’m confused. Here my attempt of its translation:

Young aviator and stubborn adventurer Marie leaves to search for her lover in the Sahara desert where he went missing while attempting a record flight from London to Cape (South Africa). Her sudden arrival disrupts the routine at an outpost of the Meharists (French Foreign Legion) who are facing a Touareg rebellion.

A captain with a hierarchy conflict, Antoine, decides to help Marie in her quest – in the midst of an ocean of magnificent and hostile sand.

Under the overpowering heat their desire to survive unites them and leads to a disturbing and unexpected love story…

If this turns out to be the real story of the film it could mean Guillaume Canet would play Antoine instead of Marion’s character’s missing lover – which would give the two actors a lot of scenes together. I’m definitely excited to hear more about this film!

Posted in: Fans, Movies,

My good friend Mycah watched the ET ‘Public Enemies‘ preview for us yesterday. Sadly in the exclusive featurette there was no Marion footage, but she sent me captures of the preview of the trailer, which will be shown on ET tonight and should also debut on apple.com very soon. Apparently, as of Friday the trailer will be shown in cinemas before the movie ‘Watchmen‘. Thanks Andrea for the info!
