Sony Pictures Classics have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Woody Allen’s love letter to the French capital Midnight in Paris (2011), starring Owen Wilson (The Darjeeling Limited), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes), and Kurt Fuller (The Pursuit of Happyness). Earlier this year, the film had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Midnight in Paris is a romantic comedy set in Paris about a family that goes there because of business, and two young people who are engaged to be married in the Fall have experiences there that change their lives. It’s about a young man’s great love for a city, Paris, and the illusion people have that a life different from theirs would be much better.
Sony’s Blu-ray presents the film in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Sony’s official press release notes that the disc will have a 3.0 LCR audio track and the following bonus supplements:
• Midnight in Cannes featurette
• Photo gallery
Midnight in Paris – which was financed by Mediapro, the Spanish company that also funded Woody Allen’s last two films, Vicky Cristina Barcelona and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger – is set to arrive on December 20th. Amazon pre-orders are now available.
Warner Bros. has announced director Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion starring Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Matt Damon (We Bought a Zoo), Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet will brings its infection to Blu-ray and DVD on January 3.
Contagion is the story of a deadly virus that spreads as quickly as a blogger who writes about a government cover-up to further send the public into chaos. It opened theatrically on September 9, 2011, and earned over $135 million in worldwide box office business.
The Blu-ray edition of Contagion will include the DVD and a trio of bonus features: False Comfort Zone: The Reality of Contagion (Blu-ray exclusive), The Contagion Detectives (Blu-ray exclusive), and Contagion: How a Virus Changes the World. An UltraViolet copy will also be included.
Screendaily has posted an article on this month’s American Film Market (AFM). One film which will be shopped around is Guillaume Canet’s US Remake of ‘Les Liens Du Sang’ now being called ‘Blood Ties’ (in which James Gray helped with the script).
The article states that Marion may be potentially starring in the project.
Sales company Wild Bunch are close to coming on to rep Canet’s project, and it’s said that Mark Wahlberg (who worked with Gray on both “The Yards” and “We Own The Night”) is circling the role of one of the brothers, with Cotillard and “Avatar” lead Zoe Saldana also linked to the film.
It also confirms that James Gray is planning to start filming ‘Low Life’ in January.
As on Tuesday, Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenarts continued to film for ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ (Rust & Bone) on a private beach called Goéland in Cannes yesterday (source). Their characters Stéphanie and Ali were taking a dip in the ocean. Marion was seen sitting in a wheelchair and it was made to look as if she was wearing prosthetics from the knees downwards. Although the production was trying hard to cut off the view to the set to ensure privacy many of the pictures taken seem very intrusive (those are not included in this update) so I hope production moves to a more secluded area soon.
