Florence Cassez’s Exhibition Opening

Today begins Florence Cassez’s 8th year of imprisonement in Mexico. Marion Cotillard is one of her supportes who believe that she’s innocent. Back in April she visited her in her prison in Tepepan and it was reported that she frequently talks to her on the phone. On Thursday, Marion Cotillard together with France’s first lady Valérie Trierweiler and journalist and news anchor Mélissa Theuriau lent their support to Florence Cassez by attending the opening of an exhibition of her paintings – made in prison – together with her parents and her lawyer at the town hall of the 12th district in Paris. Marion Cotillard spoke to Canal+:

I’ve always been convinced that she’s innocent – from the beginning. I couldn’t really explain why. And then I really studied her file and I realized that there was nothing in the file that hold up. We are both the same age, so I think… Well, I don’t know if this is what touched me… I saw pictures of her and something happened, I can’t really explain what but she’s a very dear friend now. I just can’t wait for her to be released.

Popcorn with Peter Travers – Screencaptures & Clips

I added HQ screencaptures and the clips of Marion Cotillard on the Popcorn show with Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers. It looks like this, the Charlie Rose show & the MTV interviews were all taped on the Monday before the Times Talk. Anyway, I love this interview. The topics are both serious and interesting while at the same time there are questions to lighten up the mood. Peter Travers seemed to be very familiar with Marion’s career – which is of course a bonus – and he also asked her about the Hawskley Workman collaboration. As he makes his guests sing a little snippet of a song that means something to them Marion Cotillard beautifully sang a line from Elvis’ Fools Rush In, which she sings to her son to put him to sleep.

Charlie Rose – Screencaptures & Clip

I finally added the lovely interview with Marion Cotillard on the Charlie Rose Show from last week. She talked about why she became an actress, her role in ‘Rust and Bone‘ – of course – and why confidence will never really be part of her life as an actress. It’s a good interview albeit too short. Let’s hope Charlie Rose’s invitation to have her back on the show to talk longer will work.

Usually, New York Times Magazine’s The Hollwyood Issue also is accompanied by behind the scenes videos. This year, they’re entitled “Wide-Awake” and feature the actresses’s dreams and transformations photoshoots. Watch them all here.

New York Magazine: Hollywood Heroines

Sunday’s New York Magazine’s this year’s Hollywood issue and features a portfolio with 13 actresses, among them Marion Cotillard, and a lengthy article about female heroic roles in Hollywood.

It is, instead, to acknowledge the range and depth of 13 remarkable and very different actresses, and also to convey, through the suggestive medium of pictures and words, an array of intriguing, troubling, inspiring and contradictory possibilities. A partial list of the roles the women in these pages have played this year would include a slave, a sex therapist, a trainer of killer whales, a randy Texas dowager, a 19th-century factory worker driven to prostitution and the two most compelling and morally complicated characters in the semicompelling, morally simplistic “Dark Knight Rising.” And also, of course, Katniss and Hushpuppy, authentic superheroes with the power to turn the world upside down.

On Monday, Marion Cotillard talked to MTV’s Josh Horowitz about ‘Rust and Bone‘ (De rouille et d’os), Katy Perry and that lie she told him a year ago at the ‘Contagion‘ premiere (clip) about her role in ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘. Many thanks Monica for her help with the videos. Watch on website 1 & 2.

Lady Dior Web Documentary – Episode 5: 360° Bag

After a long break, the fifth episode of the new Lady Dior Documentary is online! It shows a little bit of what went on behind the scenes when Marion Cotillard was writing and recording the song for the last episode together with Maxim Nucci (Yodelice). Then it shows her going to the Paris Fashion Week and designing her own Dior bag as well as goofing around at the London Fillm Festival.

She’s been the face of the Lady Dior bag since 2008, the embodiment of a dynamic and refined woman. And so it was only natural that Marion Cotillard would design her perfect bag, her very own Lady Dior, as modern as it is timeless, just like her.

More from Gotham Awards & Charlie Rose Show

No, I haven’t found the acceptance speech video. But I added loads of additional pictures. WWD reports:

Cotillard received an honorary award in recognition of her film career and was so eager to collect her award, her chair flew back when she stood. “Oh my god, thank you so much,” she whispered in her charming French elocution to the good Samaritan who lifted it back up.

I also added a transcript of Marion’s interview backstage after the tribute (some really good & new questions in there), courtesy of Examiner.com, and additionally they also report the following interesting tidbit:

Later, Marion was overjoyed discussing family life and her baby. “He’s 18 months old now!” The starlet seemed in high-spirits and as a bystander put it “had the best energy out of all the talent there.” The actress stayed until the very end, and even took photos with star-struck fans outside afterwards.

Also, TV Alert: Marion Cotillard is a guest on the Charlie Rose Show tonight (Wednesday night, 11pm on PBS). Who’s excited?! I certainly am. Be sure to tune in if you live in a place where you get this show on the TV! Use PBS Stationfinder to help find out the exact time for your location (in the US).

‘Rust and Bone’ Luncheon & Times Talk
Posted by Mia on November 28, 2012 No Comments

Yesterday, Marion Cotillard, together with co-star Matthias Schoenaerts, first attended a ‘Rust and Bone‘ lunch at Brasserie Ruhlmann in New York organized by Peggy Siegal. You may want to read this article by Word and Film about the lunch. New York Post quotes her as saying:

The Oscar-winning beauty, who plays an orca trainer who loses her legs in “Rust and Bone,” said she can understand her character’s sense of feeling lost. “She doesn’t feel life, so she is pretty violent and cold and tough because she protects herself from being empty in a way. I know that feeling to be lost . . . Not now, but a few years ago when I was lost and didn’t know the purpose of life. You know, when you start asking questions to yourself and you don’t have any answers and you’re just lost? It happens to many people.”

Marion Cotillard then headed to TheTimesCenter for the TimesTalk, which was also live-streamed, and gave a really interesting interview about her career, mostly since ‘La Vie en Rose‘ and the process of acting, preparing for a role and leaving a character behind. It’s definitely worth watching!

For both events she was wearing an elegant Azzedine Alaia pleated dress with black court shoes. I added some pictures – and again, thank you so much Luciana for helping with many of the pictures!
