After last year, Marion Cotillard again attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit yesterday – which opened the new exhibition American Women: Fashioning a National Identity. The event was hosted by Patrick Robinson of The Gap, and co-hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Oprah Winfrey

Marion represented Christian Dior and apparently also was a member of the Benefit Committee (source).

Both her choice of dress (Dior Haute Couture) and style received praise from fashion websites and put her on their lists of “Best Dressed”:

Long metallic dresses were distinctive standouts for Vogue’s Anna Wintour (Chanel Haute Couture), Anne Hathaway (Valentino), and Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard (Christian Dior).

JENNIFER Lopez, Marion Cotillard and Anne Hathaway ruled the red carpet at last night’s Met Costume Institute Gala in glittering, princess prom dresses. Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard wowed at the fashionable bash in glittering, sequin-encrusted gowns, each teaming their look with big jewels, smoky eyes and styled locks.

First up, the flapper girls. Jessica Alba, Marion Cotillard and Kate Bosworth brought some 20′s chic to the ball with their precision waves, even SJP’s side swept hair was Marcel waved and the flower gave a nod to Hawaii.

Marion Cotillard herself said the following about the American style at the event:

There’s a sense of richness that you have here on so many levels. You have a good mix of the high and the low.

Marion also attended the after party and was pictured with January Jones, Gisele Bundchen, Bar Rafaeli and Harvey Weinstein. According to Popsugar she took off her shoes after all the dancing got to be too much.

Lady Blue Shangai – The poem: It holds the love

Be sure to visit LadyDior.com for yet another clip ahead of the May 15 release of the full David Lynch-directed Lady Blue short film.

It features the full footage of Marion Cotillard reciting the poem ‘It holds the love‘ as well as some blurry preview scenes and the full credits. And are those the red curtains (around 4 minutes into the video) Marion referred to in the Another interview (quoted here)?

As always some good quality screencaptures can be found in the gallery:

Why Shanghai and why the Pearl Tower?
John Galliano: In each city we chose an iconic location that not only was very symbolic of the city, but also mirrored the Dior canage technique that defines the Lady Dior bag itself. In the David Lynch film Marion is reciting a poem that he wrote, and was inspired by the Pearl Tower itself – the words and building fuse in the picture he paints on screen. Shanghai is such a vibrant and inspiring city – plus it’s where we will be staging our Cruise 2010 collection. I wanted to pick cities that had a link with Dior, as well as a link with style… Dior is global what better way than these collaborations to show it!

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day today Vanity Fair asked environmentally conscious individuals, among them Marion, to make a wish for a greener world. Here’s the video:

This is Marion Cotillard. My wish for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day is awareness, good sense and love. Because it’s the only energy that can change things.

Citizen K & Madame Figaro Scans

I spent this afternoon scanning some absolutely gorgeous Marion Cotillard editorials in recent fashion magazines. Most notably the one in Citizen K – even though they’re very similar I decided to scan both the Russian and the International issue. The Russian edition features Marion on the cover whereas the International issue has an additional picture from the photoshoot and of course an article in French – which is definitely easier to read and understand, at least for me. She talks about Nine and the song for the Dior campaign as well as music in general.

If somebody could translate this for the pressarchive it’d be highly appreciated, thanks!

And as promised – a long time ago – I replaced the pictures from the February issue of Madame Figaro with my own and better scans. I adore this particular set of pictures! Enjoy!

Kindly do not redistribute these scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were obtained/donated exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.

First Glimpse of Lady Blue

As we learned last December the 3rd chapter of the Lady Dior story is set in Shanghai and features a short film directed by none other than David Lynch. Last week more details as well as preview pictures appeared online. The Print Ads – shot by Steven Klein featuring Marion Cotillard as Lady Blue against the skyline of Shanghai and its Oriental Pearl Tower – premiered last week in Air France Madame and should appear in various fashion magazines this month (e.g. May issues of UK Elle and Harper’s Bazaar).

More details about the short film: Teasers will appear online April 20 and the full 12-minute (!) short film will debut on Lady Dior May 15, the same day John Galliano is set to unveil Dior’s cruise collection in Shanghai. What is happening in it?

In the David Lynch film, Marion is reciting a poem that he wrote, and was inspired by the Pearl Tower itself. The words and building fuse in the picture he paints on-screen. Shanghai is such a vibrant and inspiring city.

He [David Lynch] asked me to dance in front of these red curtains with all this smoke and music… I can’t even put it into words yet!

P.S. According to PurePeople the 4th and last chapter will be set in Moscow.
