Madame Figaro, Deux Jours Une Nuit, Updates

001.jpg 001.jpg 001.jpg 002.jpg

In July, Marion Cotillard was once again on the cover of Madame Figaro in France. Known for her passion for the environment, the magazine interviewed her for their “Green” edition and the interview was focused on Marion’s views and every day contributions to the environment. At the end of the article, they did a list of Marion’s six commandments for the environment in which she says she never takes long baths (to save water) and that she cleans her house with white vinegar. The photoshoot for the article is brand new and shot by photographer Jan Welters who had worked with her in 2010 for ELLE

Other than that, Marion has been busy shooting the new movie by the Dardenne brothers. They began rehearsals in June and have been shooting in Belgium for the past few weeks. I added a photo of Marion holding the one month old that was chosen to participate in the movie. You can read the article (in French) here.

During rehearsals, a bakery was chosen in a small town for the shooting of one scene Marion was in. The owners of the bakery, who were present for filming and who played themselves in the movie described Marion as very professional, focused and somewhat shy.

Updated Movie & Television Stills

I finally started keeping my promise to add missing older stuff to the site. For now I replaced all the movie & television stills where I had untagged HQ versions. Also I added the odd additional still, some artwork posters and on set pictures. Enjoy!

‘The Immigrant’ at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is now over and Marion’s last appearance took place on Friday, May 24 as she stepped out to promote James Gray’s The Immigrant. Marion attended both the photocall and the premiere of the movie alongside James Gray and co-star Jeremy Renner. She wore white to both events, an Alexander McQueen short dress for the photocall and press conference and a Dior evening gown for the premiere.

You can watch the press conference on the Official Festival site with English voice over. Hundreds of photos have been added to the gallery from the entire promotion at Cannes.

Two interviews from Cannes have also been added as well as screen captures for Marion’s interview on The Immigrant aired in May 24 on France 2 as well as a new photoshoot taken at the Festival by Fabrice Dall’Anese.

Although the reviews for The Immigrant have been mixed, Marion’s performance has been praised in all of them.

Gray clearly sees something in Cotillard that no other helmer — not even her husband, Guillaume Canet — has brought out in her before. Recognizing the deep, haunted quality of Cotillard’s gaze, he features her eyes as the soul of his story, counting on their mournful quality to play to the back of the house, even as he resists unnecessary closeups in favor of broad-canvas widescreen as much as possible.

Cotillard herself is incapable of giving a bad performance and she certainly carries the movie’s opening act

the intimately focused work is anchored by another superior performance by Marion Cotillard

‘Blood Ties’ Premieres at Cannes

One down, one to go! Marion shone at Cannes on Monday for the premiere of her first film in the festival, Guillaume Canet’s Blood Ties. Early in the day, wearing a gorgeous Antonio Berardi dress, she attended the photocall for the film alongside Guillaume, Zoe Saldana, Clive Owen and James Caan. She seemed to be having a lot of fun laughing about with Zoe and signing autographs for the fans upon arrival.

The traditional press conference ensued and Marion was complimented on her Italian accent by an Italian journalist. A very fun moment where she said she wanted to kiss him! You can watch the press conference on the Official Festival site with English voice over.

Later in the evening the premiere took place. Marion looked stunning in a strapless Dior gown as she walked the red carpet with her co-stars. After the premiere, they headed out for the After Party and cocktail hosted by Dior. Marion changed into a simpler, black Dior gown for the party.

I have added photos from the entire day to the gallery as well as the poster and trailer for Blood Ties.

Finally, with the premiere of The Immigrant taking place this Friday, here are a couple of articles about the film you might enjoy reading:

Chopard Lunch at Cannes & Dior Cruise Collection show

As the Cannes Film Festival unfolds, Marion Cotillard has made her first appearance at the event. On Friday she attended the Chopard Lunch and posed alongside Fan Bingbing, Livia Firth, Colin Firth, and Laura Baily. The lunch promoted a partnership between Chopard and the Alliance for Responsible Mining for a closer relationship between luxury and sustainability. Marion looked cool and summery in a Vivienne Westwood dress and Jimmy Choo tan sandals. She completed the look with a Chopard ring.

The next day, Marion was spotted at the Dior Cruise Collection 2014 show held in Monaco, wearing a Raff Simons design.

Marion’s movies Blood Ties (Guillaume Canet) and The Immigrant (James Gray) will be screened at Cannes on the 20th and 25th of May, respectively, so we should expect to see her throughout this week!
