The Toronto International Film Festival posted their official guest list today and as expected Marion Cotillard as well as director Guillaume Canet are to be at the festival for the world premiere of ‘Les petits mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) which is to take place on Saturday, September 11, 2010, 1.30 pm at the Royal Thomson Hall. For additional screenings as well as an extended film description visit the TIFF Little White Lies page.
Via Gossip Communications and credit to Jean-Claude Lother, Les Productions Du Tresor, EuropaCorp, Caneo Films and M6 Films come many pretty stills and behind the scenes pictures. Guillaume Canet posted a 3rd Making Of video recently which offers only a few glimpses of Marion.

Back in 1994, an 18 to 19 year old Marion Cotillard was part of the French TF1 series ‘Extrême Limite‘ where she played Sophie Colbert, the daughter of the director of an elite sports academy at the Côte d’Azur. To my knowledge she appeared in episodes #10 and #41 of the first season. Please let me know if she appeared in any additional episodes.
There’s some confusion with the DVD releases as they’re splitting episodes from the first season into different box sets as well as labelling some of them ‘Season 2′. Marion’s episodes can be watched on the following DVD Box Sets: Saison 1, partie 1 and Saison 2, partie 1. Added screencaptures of Marion’s 2nd episode today.

Regarding the recent spoof advert ‘Forehead Tittaes‘ by Funny or die.com which was released this March: Nadine recently directed my attention to a recent German ‘Inception‘ interview with Welt am Sonntag. To my knowledge this is the first time Marion was asked about it so here’s the translation:
Welt am Sonntag: When typing your name in Google a quite funny short film called “Forehead Tittaes” shows up – the clip deals with how men always stare only at women’s boobs. What made you do this?
Cotillard: That’s the great thing about the possibilities America can offer an actress. Thanks to “La Môme” I’m now somewhat privileged. In this case it was that I played quite a number of, let’s say, “suffering” roles back-to-back – “La Mome”, “Public Enemies”, “Nine” and “Inception”. But actually, I’m a huge fan of American comedians – Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn or Steve Carell. “Step Brothers” is one of my favourite movies. So I was talking with my agent about what I wanted to do next and said ‘I’m a bit fed up with always playing the sufferer and to always have to put myself in this state of despair’. It even happened that I sat there during shooting and thought ‘Here we go again, same old story, I’ll be completely desperate for the whole day’.Welt am Sonntag: So you said ‘There’s an end of it, I’ll do something funny now’?
Cotillard: My publicist suggested meeting the guys of “Funny or die”: I knew them because I love Will Ferrell but I thought: You can hardly just go there and say ‘Bonjour, I’m a French actress and would like to work with you’. But my agent said: Yes, that’s exactly how it works. So two days later I was sitting in a conference room with 20 people writing sketches for me. That was really an absolute dream. Writers I adore telling me totally screwy, absurd stories. Then Will Ferrell came and we shook hands. I immediately hugged him. That’s how “Forehead Tittaes” came to be. It was brilliant. For me comedy is really hard work because it’s something I have little experience in.

Thanks to Flor we have scans of Marion’s cover & interview from Spanish magazine Yo, Dona. The lovely photo shoot was actually realized for Chopard’s 150th anniversary. It’s an original interview, and here’s Flor’s summary for those of us who don’t speak Spanish:
It’s a very cute interview, actually. We learn that Marion studied Spanish for 5 years and that she was one of the best of her class but then she forgot it (while filming Nine, she tried to talk to Penelope Cruz in Spanish but she couldn’t join the sentences). She hopes she can study it again sometime. They ask her about Guillaume (as always) and she dodges the question very gracefully (as always). And then it’s more about the stuff we know: filming with Leo, La Vie en Rose changed her life, Dior, etc.

P.S. Some people mentioned that the pictures in the gallery seem to be of a smaller size than before. This is NOT the case. The new version of the gallery script resizes full-sized pictures to your screen resolution. If you right click on the photo and view properties, you will see that it says something like: 1,365px × 1,800px (scaled to 506px × 668px). This is done to allow a person with a slower connection or smaller monitor to see the full image instead of having to scroll. If the image is saved, it will save in its full original size.

As posted earlier, Marion Cotillard travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first week of June and Greenpeace realized a 7-episode documentary of her travels through the rainforests. Travelling by pirogue (a small wooden boat), she witnessed the destruction caused by logging first hand. Many of the episodes are now available with subtitles:
• Original French: Congo: Des forêts en sursis
• English Subtitles: The Congolese Rainforests: living on borrowed time
• German Subtitles: Marion Cotillard mit Greenpeace im Kongo
• Portuguese Subtitles: Congo: floresta ameaçada

New pictures of Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson on the set of ‘Midnight in Paris from Wednesday night (August 4) have surfaced. Apparently, that was Marion’s last day of filming, as the last 2 pictures show where she’s holding flowers and wiping away tears.
Additionally, I’ve added more pictures from July 7 & 30. This means we now have 299 photos of Marion on the set of the Woody Allen pic. The filenames indicate which day the photographs are from.

Some stills and on set pictures from ‘Les Petits Mouchoirs‘ (Little White Lies) have surfaced online. Also, the movie’s runtime is 2 hours 25 minutes. This may seem long but industry sources are saying they are happy with the result and have no troubles with the length so that’s good news!

There are some incredibly gorgeous shots of Marion – including the moments when she was playing with the children on set – as well as the desert among them so be sure to check them out! Stay tuned for the screencaptures of the actual movie.

I added a few more pictures of Marion Cotillard on the set of the Woody Allen movie ‘Midnight in Paris‘ – mostly taken last Monday, July 26, but also 3 additional ones from July 5.
Woody Allen’s period movie just went into flashback mode. The director took over famed Paris eaterie Maxim’s on Monday night to shoot scenes for “Midnight in Paris” with Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson.
Images taken on the set of the movie so far indicate the action is set in the Twenties, but the scenes filmed at Maxim’s, owned by Pierre Cardin, take place in the late 19th century, in what an insider described as a flashback within the film.
Cotillard donned a yellow dress for the ball scene, which featured some 40 extras, including musicians. Filming stretched into the wee hours, with exterior scenes featuring a coach and horses.

The French trailer for ‘Les Petits Mouchoirs‘ debuted today exclusively on MSN.fr. However, the same footage was already shown on Sunday during the Rencontres de cinéma avec Guillaume Canet on Canal+. During that interview also more scenes from the movie were shown for the first time! And recently a second Making Of video was released. The movie will be released in France on October 20.
Very big news for the movie came also in today! The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced their lineup of Galas and Special Presentations! So, ‘Little White Lies‘ (the movie’s English title) will celebrate its world premiere with a gala screening at the Canadian Film Festival!

Marion Cotillard is on the cover of the August issue of Interview magazine. The photoshoot is very dreamy, sensual and just breathtaking! The interview was conducted over the phone by Nicole Kidman and is definitely one of the most informative Marion interviews in the English language. She talks about her work with Greenpeace in Congo, her love for the environment, searching for answers, dreams and her work with Yodelice. Read it on the magazine’s website

Marion was very busy promoting ‘Inception‘. On Thursday, July 8, she attended the world premiere at Odeon Leicester Square in London, England. Her dress is by US-designer Thakoon. She looked absolutely perfect, her look was so her, the wavy hair, the bohemian style of the dress and the make-up gave her a beautiful complexion. It’s definitely one of my favourite outfits of her.
Then after the press junket on Friday, she attended the Paris premiere at the Gaumont Champs Elysées on Saturday evening, July 10, looking absolutely flawless in Dior.
And yesterday, July 13, she attended the Los Angeles premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in a exquisite L’Wren Scott dress, looking – once more – breathtaking. She was spotted at the airport taking a plane back to Paris right after the premiere (she still has the same hairdo) as she’s expected on set for more ‘Midnight in Paris‘ filming.

I’m back from my travels for a few days so I’ll be doing my best to catch up on what’s going on in Marion Cotillard’s world. To begin, some additional HQ pictures of her during the Los Angeles ‘Inception‘ Press Conference in Los Angeles last month. To know what was being said during the Press Conference you can listen to a recording at HollywoodNews.com or read the transcript at Moviesonline.ca.
Due to filming ‘Midnight in Paris‘ Marion didn’t attend the London Press Conference (although she did make it to the world premiere Thursday evening – more on that later). However, she was present during the Press Conference in Paris on Friday ahead of its premiere there on Saturday. You can watch the entire conference with English/French audio on FilmoSphere France’s YouTube Channel. There’s also another cute video from a different angle of Marion & Leonardo singing each other’s praises, edited by and courtesy of Le Parisien.

Today, in a small quiet street in a popular quarter of Paris, filming for Woody Allen’s new movie ‘Midnight in Paris‘ started in a Haussmannian-style building of which the windows were blocked with black curtains. Everything about the set was very discreet yet we now know that the film is set in the Twenties (Source: AFP). How exciting! And as those pictures of Marion Cotillard – taken earlier today (Monday) – prove the time period is definitely flattering her!

Ahead of the ‘Inception‘ Premiere in Los Angeles on July 13, the movie will have its world premiere in London on July 8. If you’re in the UK you can win tickets on Facebook. According to Associated Press the press junket will be held this week. Thanks Nadine for all the heads up.
Already now the first production still with Marion Cotillard has popped up online and the official Inception Website has been updated with Wallpapers and Production Notes with interesting details about the international filming and technical aspects of creating a movie about dreams.
“His mind is so rich,” Marion Cotillard says, “and that’s one reason Chris is such an extraordinary director and writer. On a movie as imaginative as this, you need a director you can trust—someone to take your hand and share his vision—and I trusted him 100 percent. He really inspired me and gave me the keys I needed.”
MAL – THE SHADE
Mal, played by Marion Cotillard, is the love of Cobb’s life. “Mal is a tricky one to describe because she is a mix of so many things,” the actress says cryptically. “But maybe it’s the kind of thing you don’t describe because different people can have different interpretations.”“Mal is the essence of the femme fatale,” states Nolan. “Marion brought an exceptionally haunting quality to her performance. What she was able to do with just her eyes and her emotional openness is quite beautiful. And she and Leo together portray an incredibly moving couple. Underneath all of the action, I think ‘Inception’ is very much founded on a love story, and these two actors found the truth of that in a most remarkable way.”
“Leo is such a gifted actor. I have always been a great fan of his work, so it was amazing to work with him,” Cotillard says. “His commitment is total and his intensity is unlimited. You can see it in his eyes. When you share a scene with him, you can trust everything he does because he’s so authentic.”
DiCaprio has equal praise for his co-star. “It was wonderful to act alongside Marion. She can be strong and vulnerable and hopeful and heartbreaking all in the same moment, which was perfect for all the contradictions of her character.”
Emma Thomas: “I especially loved what Jeffrey did with Mal’s costumes, like the gorgeous, flowing gown we first see her in. She is the femme fatale and her wardrobe reflects that.”
