Chopard Trophy Ceremony today

The reason why Marion Cotillard will be making an official appearance at the Cannes Film Festival today is because she’s to present at the Chopard Trophy Ceremony at the Martinez Hotel tonight. She herself won the award back in 2004 – after her work in Love Me If You Dare and A Very Long Engagement received much praise.

Remember, between 7.05 and 9.00 pm she’s also scheduled to appear on Le Grand Journal which airs on Canal+. The broadcast will later be available online but I’d still love to have HQ screencaptures for the gallery if anyone’s able to record it for us. Thanks!

‘Public Enemies’ ET Preview

My good friend Mycah watched the ET ‘Public Enemies‘ preview for us yesterday. Sadly in the exclusive featurette there was no Marion footage, but she sent me captures of the preview of the trailer, which will be shown on ET tonight and should also debut on apple.com very soon. Apparently, as of Friday the trailer will be shown in cinemas before the movie ‘Watchmen‘. Thanks Andrea for the info!

Picture update & Césars tomorrow

I added a total of 94 regular quality pictures to almost all of 2009′s event albums.

Also I would like to remind everyone that tomorrow the 34th César Ceremony is taking place in Paris. As last year’s winner of the Best Actress césar it is very likely that Marion will be attending and/or presenting. Canal+ is airing the show as of 8.50pm MET. And apparently as of 9pm MET we will all be able to watch it live on CanalPlus.Fr..

I am not sure whether I will be able to record anything as my computer is acting weird lately whenever I’m dealing with media files. Could anyone watch out for Marion on the red carpet and during the ceremony and provide clips for this site? Thank you very much.

[edit Feb 27:] I couldn’t get that direct link to play but from what I’ve been able to gather on the live blog Marion Cotillard was absent from tonight’s Césars Ceremony despite having reportedly returned to France earlier this week (thanks Gemma for the link). I’m sure she’s taking a well deserved break before filming for her first leading role since La Vie en Rose starts in little over a week from now: Aviator Chubbie Miller searching for her fiancé in the much awaited Sahara-set adventure-romantic drama “Le Dernier vol de Lancaster” by Karim Dridi opposite Guillaume Canet. Filming starts March 9 and will mostly take place in the Moroccan desert.

‘Nine’ moved ahead

Cinematic Happenings Under Development has a report on how the producers of ‘Nine‘ are hopeful the film will be part of next year’s awards season. To increase the film’s chances they set a new release date for Rob Marshall’s musical: November 25, 2009.

Michael Tolkin wrote the original script draft but, in final Oscar-bait form, it was rewritten by the late Anthony Minghella shortly before his death.

Now the film has moved up to November 25 from December 11; that’s a big Thanksgiving weekend thumbs-up from The Weinstein Company. And why not? The last time Marshall unleashed a musical (Chicago) it took home many dollars and awards for Harvey & Co.

Preview: Elle Magazine

I faced horrible traffic and drove into town to get the new French Elle magazine. But alas, it wasn’t on our newsstands yet. I guess it’ll arrive on Monday. I’ll have HQ scans up then.

Until then, browse the “Spécial écolo” dossier on the magazine website. There are a number of (small) cute Marion pics – in a countryside themed photoshoot. And GaKaTaN already has scans of the pictures up on his blog. And I added the new French interview to the Press Archive:

Marion Cotillard : une actrice engagée pour la planète

Hopefully, we will soon be able to catch up with providing English translations of recent articles and news items. Please be patient as translating is quite a demanding job and my friend is doing it in her free time! Thanks for understanding.

Oh, and by the way, Marion-Cotillard.fr has a link to a special report that aired yesterday on French TV chain M6. View it here. Note: it’s not possible to watch this outside France – hopefully someone will put it up on YouTube soon!

And the google alerts keep coming today! Premiere.fr’s Jean-Marc Morandini reports on his blog (translation by me):

Marion Cotillard is a one-off editor on an upcoming issue of French Elle magazine titled “Green Special”, to appear Saturday, February 21.

In this “green issue” the Oscar winning actress and long time green activist, proves to be wholeheartedly committed.

She explains why and especially how she fights every day to preserve the planet – she also reveals her struggles and actions as a eco-citizen to protect the environment.

The preview picture promises new gorgeous pictures and I’ll be sure to pick up this magazine as soon as possible!

Marion Cotillard: Best of 2008

I can’t believe it’s already 2009! I hope you have all had a fabulous time with your loved ones during the holiday season and have started well into the new year!

Looking back, I think it’s safe to say 2008 has been THE year for our favourite actress Marion Cotillard! Winning Best Actress awards at the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, the Césars and even at the Oscars for her performance in La Vie en Rose cemented her status as an exraordinary talented actress across the globe. There were also awards handed out to her at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Palm Springs Film Festival as well as London Critics Circle Award. Immediately after writing history when she received the first ever Best Actress Oscar trophy for a performance entirely in the French language Marion Cotillard immersed herself in work. She was busy perfecting her American accent to play Johnny Depp’s John Dillinger’s girlfriend Billie in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. After a much deserved break during summer it wasn’t long before she joined Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Fergie and Daniel Day-Lewis in a dance/drama boot camp for Rob Marshall’s upcoming musical Nine. She spent the final months of the year on set of the musical. Amidst all of that she somehow found time to record a song (The Strong Ones for LOVE Cartier) and pose for the new Lady Dior campaign in front of Peter Lindbergh’s camera.

Marion Cotillard: Best of 2007

Compiled by the Magnifique Marion Cotillard staff. Please feel free to post your own choices here or at the forum.

Best News: No doubts here! Marion winning a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a César as well as an Oscar was definitely the best news ever!

Worst News: The way the media as well as people online created a polemic scandal taking some old 9/11 related quotes by Marion Cotillard out of context. I could never have imagined such dashing possible.

Favourite magazine cover:

It’s just perfect! I couldn’t take my eyes off the magazine when I first saw it.

Thanks melaniefan for letting me know about Marion Cotillard being on the cover of free French magazine Neoplanète. None of the pictures are new but the article is really interesting, it’s a new interview about Marion’s take on ecology. I’ve added the relevant pages to the gallery.
