Marion wins award at Etoiles d’Or

Marion won Best Actress at Etoiles d’Or (Golden Stars) for her performance in ‘De rouille et d’os‘ (‘Rust and Bone‘). The film itself won five awards (Desplat also won Score). A reminder that the Césars are on this Friday.

Credit to Cineuropa for information.

Best Film, Best Actress (Marion Cotillard), Best Screenplay (Jacques Audiard and Thomas Bidegain) and Best Male Newcomer (Matthias Schoenaerts). With four prizes in this 14th edition of the Golden Stars awarded by French cinema journalists and movie critics, Rust&Bone by Jacques Audiard beats Love  by Michael Haneke, which won the Best Director and Best Actor awards (Jean-Louis Trintignant).

It is worth thinking about these results since the Césars will be awarded on February 22nd. Indeed, over the past few years, the 450 members of the Golden Stars’ jury and the 4,200 members of the Academy of Film Arts and Techniques (who vote at the Césars) have very often opted for the same film. Winning prizes around the world, will Love be snubbed in its majority production country (France)? We’ll have the answer on Friday night.

Hasty Pudding's Woman of the Year

Exciting news! The Hasty Pudding Theatricals named Marion Cotillard Woman of the Year.

The Woman of the Year festivities will begin at 2:45 p.m. on January 31st, when Cotillard will lead a parade through the streets of Cambridge. Following the parade, the president of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Renée Rober ‘13, and the vice president of the cast, Ben Moss ‘13, will host a celebratory roast for the actress.

At 4 p.m., Cotillard will be presented with her Pudding Pot at Farkas Hall, the Hasty Pudding’s historic home in the heart of Harvard Square since 1889. A press conference will follow the presentation. Afterward, Hasty Pudding cast members will perform several musical numbers from the group’s 165th production “There’s Something About Maui.”

The Man and Woman of the Year awards are presented annually to performers who have made a lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment. Established in 1951, the Woman of the Year award has been given to many notable and talented entertainers, including Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Anne Hathaway, and, most recently, Claire Danes.

The Hasty Pudding Theatricals, formed in 1795 and known informally simply as The Pudding, is a theatrical student society at Harvard University, known for its burlesque crossdressing musicals and for its status as the oldest collegiate theatrical organization in the United States. They present original student-written and student-composed musicals with near-professional production values.

Recent Appearances at Award Ceremonies

Luise, Jess and I have added some pictures of Marion Cotillard attending a number of recent award season events. She looked stunning! We will be on the lookout for more pictures and I’ll be posting screencaps too but we’re all really busy with real life.

Last Thursday, after not getting nominated for an Oscar, Marion Cotillard attended the 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica wearing a Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 Couture lace and floral embroidered knee length dress with a open back looking radiant, beautiful & youthful. She accessorized the dress with nude Jimmy Choo shoes, Chopard jewels and a nude clutch and wore her hair in a sleek side parted bun. She did not win Best Actress, Jessica Chastain received the honour. She was pictured with Sally Field and Amy Adams.

On Friday, she attended a pre Golden Globes party held by Dom Perignon and W Magazine at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles wearing a Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2013 printed pants ensemble with black pumps, dark make-up and a half up half down hair do.

On Saturday, she celebrated her recent BAFTA nomination at the BAFTA Los Angeles 2013 Awards Season Tea Party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles wearing a short-sleeved blue floral Erdem Pre-Fall 2013 dress together with a cross-body Christian Louboutin ‘Sweet Charity’ satin and lace bag and her hair in a high bun. She was pictured talking to ‘Rust and Bone‘ composer Alexandre Desplat and Daniel Day-Lewis was really happy to see her again.

Finally, on Sunday, for the big day at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards at the The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills she went back to wearing Dior Haute Couture. It was a strapless velvet coral gown with an asymmetrical hemline created by Raf Simons especially for the occasion. She wore it with a silver belt, not much jewellery apart from a matching arm bracelet & ring seth with red jewels by Chopard (as always), and hair extensions. She truly looked glamourous and natural at the same time. Again, she did not win an award, Jessica Chastain was named Best Actress in a Drama.
