According to the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona (OBC)‘s 2012/2013 Season Programme Marion Cotillard will finally reprise her role as Joan of Arc in Arthur Honegger’s oratorio Jeanne au bûcher (Joana a la foguera) on November 17 and 18 under the directon of Marc Soustrot. She will be accompanied by the choirs Liedercamera, Madrigal and Vivaldi. The concert will be transmitted live on Medici TV on November 17, 2012. The concerts are held in honour of the 600th anniversary of Joan of Arc’s birth.

Mexican media reported that Marion Cotillard will bring the story of Florence Cassez, who’s serving a 60 year sentence in Mexico for kidnapping but is claiming her innocence, to the big screen. Florence Cassez herself confirmed to AFP that Marion Cotillard has indeed visited her at the prison in Tepepan (Mexico) on April 7 for over 3 hours – flying in especially from New York for the day. However, the visit wasn’t about a movie project:

Between Marion and me there has never been any talk of a movie project.

We’ve been in touch over the phone for months. She joined my support committee in France. I then contacted her over the phone for the first time on January 25 to thank her. And then I called her regularly because this great friendship sprang up between us.

It was a very good meeting between friends and we did not want to publicize it. We’re just two women of the same age, we share the same values, the same desires, we have much in common.

Pourquoi avoir dit oui à Audiard?
Ce genre de réalisateur, on dit ou sans lire le scénario! J’ai été touchée par le rôle de Stéphanie, j’avais un long chemin à faire pour la rencontrer. On la découvre dans l’action, on a peu d’infos sur elle, tout était à construire, c’est excitant! Elle ne se voit pas comme handicapée. Elle est plutôt cassée dans sa relation aux choses, aux gens. Le handicap physique la libère dans l’absolu.

Comme tous vos personnages, elle dégage une tristesse insondable. Qu’a-t-elle en commun avec vous?
Aujourd’hui, pas grand-chose. Mais oui, j’ai ça en moi, ou je l’ai eu. À une époque, j’ai été déconnectée du temps et de l’espace, du monde dans lequel je vivais, je ne savais pas quoi faire de moi-même… On passe tous par là. Peu de gens sont en permanence connectés avec le “tout” disons…

Audiard est cruel de vous ôter les jambes! Il voulait casser l’icône Dior, la star?
Il s’en fout complètement de ce que je représente. Il veut juste des gens qui vont lui offrir un travail aussie profond que ce qu’il leur propose. Je pense qu’il n’avait aucune intention de casser une quelconque image que je pourrais avoir…

Quel rapport entretenez-vous avec votre image justement?
Pas simple. C’est un travail de tous les jours mais le chemin vers l’acceptation est merveilleux à faire. J’ai aimé être Stéphanie pour mille raisons, pas juste parce qu’elle est fatiguée ou sans maquillage. Après, c’est très agréable d’arriver un quart d’heure avant de tourner. Ça change de La Môme!
