Posted by The Telegraph‘s Celia Walden last Thursday in an article about fashion at award shows and style in general:
With French women it’s the poise that grates… I decide this as I watch Marion Cotillard gliding about the Chateau Marmont restaurant in denim hotpants apparently bought from Baby Gap.
Style – as discussed – can be bought, learnt or imposed, intelligence is generally agreed to be a quaint, outmoded value, but poise – you either have it or you don’t. Cotillard has it, and from the way she’s walking around being thin all over the patio, she knows it.
Just as my companion and I – pink with envy – are about to drag our gazes away from the Oscar-winning actress, Cotillard reaches into a Moses basket, retrieves a perfect, Petit Bateau-clad, three-month-old child and starts burping it while ordering coffee and conducting a business meeting. “Maybe it’s not hers,” attempts my friend lugubriously. “Maybe,” I nod. “Maybe.”
I added a lot more pictures of Marion Cotillard attending the New York premiere of ‘Contagion‘ last Wednesday. I also found videos of her being interviewed by Associated Press, Access Hollywood and MTV News.
The latter can’t be viewed from outside the US so many thanks to Iria from Damian Lewis Web for sending it in for our video archive. It’s especially interesting because she says her character in ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ is not based on the comic books – which means that the speculation that her character Miranda Tate might be an alias for her real character Talia al Ghul might prove to be just that, specualation only. Read more about this on ScreenRant.com.
Marion was also interviewed by Extra TV, E! and Entertainment Tonight. I haven’t been able to find any interview footage yet so if you do please let me know. Thanks!
Marion Cotillard appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night to promote ‘Contagion‘. From the moment she stepped on stage the two displayed germophobia by refusing to touch & kiss when they greeted each other. Apart from that they talked about how Marion loves Will Ferrell and laughed over language matters. Sadly it was equally short as the Jimmy Fallon interview the day before.
That strained look Marion Cotillard gives onscreen as a World Health Organization official racing against time to contain a worldwide pandemic in Contagion wasn’t entirely movie acting.
Cotillard tells USA Today there were other factors at work.
“I was pregnant on the set. And I was in Hong Kong. It affected me in a different way,” she says.
Appropriate for a movie which deals with the invisible world of pathogens, which opens Friday, Cotillard was concerned about the very air she was breathing.
“Hong Kong is so polluted. And I felt very uncomfortable which is good for the character,” she says. “I was in a situation where I was in places where the air was very, very hard to breathe. And I was not alone in my body.”
She says, “It emphasized the fear. Maybe not fear, but I was thinking about it all the time.”
Cotillard, 35, says her education filming the movie made her more hyper-aware of the potential of a real viral outbreak – such as the killer virus that wreaks havoc in the Steven Soderbergh-directed movie.
Playing Dr. Leonora Orantes, she prepared by working with actual world health officials, who try to mask their concern when working in the field. “Deep inside, you’re always scared you are going to be infected,” says Cotillard.
“The virus can travel everywhere,” she says. “It can be in the air. Especially in a place that’s very, very hot and humid.”
Cotillard’s real life situation had a happy ending. The Oscar-winning actress (for La Vie en Rose) and her French actor-director beau Guillaume Canet, 38, had a baby boy, Marcel, in May.
I added HQ screencaptures of Marion Cotillard’s appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show. They compared their version of Taxi they both starred in (French & US version), then talked about Marion not getting to work with any of the big name co-stars of ‘Contagion‘ and germs in general. I thought their comic timing was perfectly insync and they had the same kind of slightly off-beat sense of humour.
Wearing black floor length Christian Dior dress from the Fall 2011 collection – with an embroidered lace skirt, embellishment details on the chest and a sexy open back – together with a cute braided updo Marion Cotillard looked perfect on Wednesday’s New York premiere of ‘Contagion‘. I started adding pictures, expect more soon.
Only a few more hours until the episode of The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featuring a new interview with Marion Cotillard air on US TV channel NBC. As a preview I added pictures from the taping earlier today (Wednesday). She was wearing a gorgeous one-shoulder blue cocktail dress by Lanvin. Many thanks to Roberta from Leonardo DiCaprio Fan for sending in the pictures.
To shorten the wait I added the long overdue stills, screencaptures as well as the clip of her December 15, 2009 appearance on the same show where she was promoting ‘Nine‘, toasting her Golden Globe nomination with champagne and professing her love for American comedies.
We posted about the rumours before, but it’s a rumour no longer. Marion Cotillard has been confirmed to have a role in Jacques Audiard’s next movie ‘Un goût de rouille et d’os‘ according to Le Film Français. You need to be registered to read the article but PurePeople has the information as well. Co-starring in the ensemble movie will be Matthias Schoenaerts, Céline Sallette, and Bouli Lanners. Filming will start at the end of September and last 8 weeks – taking place in the North of France, in the area of Paris and at the Côte d’Azur. [edit:] According to Variety filming will take place for a total of 12 weeks and lists Belgium as additional shooting location.
Don’t forget to tune into the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight just after midnight to see Marion Cotillard. Also she is expected to attend the NYC premiere of ‘Contagion‘ (source: Gossiple.com).
