For yesterday’s international Women’s Day, Reader’s Digest conducted a survey for their magazine Sélection. From January 14 to 16, 2009 they asked 3,755 people in France who they thought symbolizes best the woman of the beginning of the century. Rachida Dati, Sophie Marceau and Claire Chazal claimed the first 3 spots. According to the survey the 21st century’s woman is independent, responsible and dynamic. Among the group of women from politics, journalism, acting, nobel prize winners and more Marion Cotillard came in 12th.

I finally had the time to scan the magazine, for which I had to go three times to the international newsstands downtown. The countryside themed photoshoot is both dreamy and alluring. Enjoy viewing all the pictures in high resolution and reading the editor’s letter by Marion, her interview and her interviewing Hubert Reeves.

Marion & Guillaume at the “La Party” after Césars

Posted in: Gallery Updates,

As we’ve previously reported, Marion Cotillard didn’t attend the 34th César Awards ceremony at the end of February – nor the official gala dinner in the Fouquet restaurant afterwards for that matter.

However, various French websites (e.g. Free Actualités) posted that Marion together with Guillaume Canet around 3am until the early morning hours attended the traditional after party – also known as “La Party” – at Régine’s, organized by the academy, the Chivas Brothers and Albane Cleret. They kept a low profile, refused to pose together for pictures and especially Marion spent a lot of time on the dance floor.

The two of them did however pose with co-host Albane Cleret separately, as can be seen on Jalou Gallery.

Updates about the Lady Dior campaign

I’m sure you’re all as impatient as me to see the second batch of promotion for Lady Dior (there will be four).

In May, the house will shoot a second batch of ads for the Lady Dior handbag featuring Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard, depicted in the first episode clutching the lace-like metallic grid of the Eiffel Tower, the purse slung on her arm etched with a similar pattern. (Also coming out soon on Dior’s website is a mini-movie with Cotillard devoted to the making of the campaign.)

“Dior is not an apparel vendor; it’s not a bag vendor or a shoe vendor. This is why it’s so close to the movie industry,” Toledano said. “These actresses are showing the dream through Dior…this dimension of dream, glamour, and elegance.”

Having famous women wearing Dior, from royals and political figures to celebrities, is not meant to achieve a short-term impact, but to feed the brand’s momentum and “add more substance to the story of the brand. It’s a long-term process.”

So I guess we’ll only have to wait roughly two more months until we’re treated to new ads and a new making of video!

New Video Archive

I’ve installed a new Video Archive. Huge thank you goes to my wonderful host Fan-Sites.org, who’s hosting the media part of the website! I hope you’ll love the fact that you’ll be able to directly play the videos instead of having to download & unzip them first as much as I! Over the coming days the old archive will be transferred to the new one.

I’ve also taken the opportunity to some videos of Marion Cotillard during the recent Oscars. Thanks Mariana for recording one of the red carpet interviews!

‘Public Enemies’ Trailer

Wow! The first official ‘Public Enemies‘ trailer is out! Follow this link to watch it on apple.com. The trailer opens right with Marion’s voice when she asks John Dillinger “What is it exactly you do for a living?” and I’m now officially excited for the film! The film will be released in the US July 1 – and sadly only on August 13 in Switzerland, I can’t wait!

I’ve added HQ screencaptures to the gallery:

‘Public Enemies’ ET Preview

Posted in: Fans, Movies,

My good friend Mycah watched the ET ‘Public Enemies‘ preview for us yesterday. Sadly in the exclusive featurette there was no Marion footage, but she sent me captures of the preview of the trailer, which will be shown on ET tonight and should also debut on apple.com very soon. Apparently, as of Friday the trailer will be shown in cinemas before the movie ‘Watchmen‘. Thanks Andrea for the info!

‘Public Enemies’ Poster & Trailers & Cannes

MSN debuted the first ‘Public Enemies‘ poster today, as well as some new stills. But none feature a new Marion still. Still, very exciting! Especially to see that out of the all star cast it’s Marion and Christian Bale who, in addition to Johnny Depp of course, get to have their names on the poster – it seems the two have equal billing positions. And it’s certainly nice to read Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard on a poster!

Also word is out that ET will debut some exclusive footage as well as a preview of the trailer tonight! Watch the preview for the preview and don’t forget to tune in to spot Marion as Johnny Depp’s Dillinger’s girlfriend Billie.

The actual trailer should be online either tomorrow or Thursday and it can be admired on the big screen as of Friday. Don’t know which movies will show the ‘Public Enemies‘ trailer, though, sorry.

Also, it was reported last Friday by highly reliable Daily Mail correspondant Baz Bamigboye that ‘Public Enemies‘ might be chosen for the Cannes Festival movie line-up:

Cannes Film Festival selectors are due to look at a rough cut of Public Enemies, the movie about 1930s Public Enemy No1 John Dillinger. A delegation of Cannes Film Festival officials will travel to Los Angeles soon to view footage.

The picture, directed by Michael Mann, also stars Christian Bale, Channing Tatum and Carey Mulligan. It’s not certain yet whether it would have an opening night slot or a special premiere during the festival in May.

One factor that has to be sorted is whether or not Depp has the time (or the inclination) to attend Cannes. He’s busy doing additional filming on Alice In Wonderland and has two other projects to film back to back.

Also, Depp and Mann clashed on the set – but they’re both professionals and are most likely over it now.

Festival organisers are already holding talks with Pedro Almodovar about his noir movie Broken Embraces, which stars the best supporting actress Oscar winner Penelope Cruz.

Terminator Salvation, which stars Bale, is set to close the festival.

Studio Ciné Live – Translated Interview

Posted in: Press Updates,

Ioana sent me the translated interview from the February issue of Studio Ciné Live earlier last month. Here it is now for you all to enjoy! Marion Cotillard talks about the 08 Awards Season and Oscar campaign, winning a César and a Oscar, filming Public Enemies and Nine as well as any possible projects in the future & more.

Marion Cotillard – No Promo Required

Every day, it’s like the Cannes festival over there!

I never dreamed of a César. As a little girl, I never imagined myself making a speech! But, that evening, I was really happy to be awarded in my home country.

And then, during three weeks of rehearsals, I met Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Daniel Day-Lewis. I realized we were all going to be in the same studio, for two months. And I understood we all had our fears concerning the technique required. Suddenly, instead of exhaustion, I felt euphoria, and it hasn’t left me since.

Since I’m still in the middle of making a musical and fulfilling my childhood dream, my heart is singing!

I finished capping all the Oscar related videos with Marion and added the caps to the gallery. Videos will come soon! As I’ve said before, Marion Cotillard was seated right behind Amy Adams who in turn was sitting next to Meryl Streep. This should help you locate Marion on the audience caps.

During the credits of the show small previews of upcoming movies were shown – among them: Public Enemies. I’ve added the Marion caps to the gallery as well.
