The July/August issue of French magazine ‘Psychologies’ features Marion Cotillard on the cover! See. While the picture itself is not new the interview is! Not only is this the first interview with Marion Cotillard after her Oscar win – but as the article implies it will probably remain the only one for the time being. It’s a lovely and informative interview so be sure to check it out! Many thanks for the heads up goes to JV and Ioana.
If anyone would like to work on an English translation of the article for this site’s Press archive, please let me know.
As reported by 312 Shining Diva – a blog about Chicago’s nightlife – yesterday the official wrap party of ‘Public Enemies‘ took place. No media was allowed so most likely we won’t get any pictures.
An hour later, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”) sashayed in wearing a floral tee and jeans.
The film is slated for a theatrical release in the US on July 1, 2009. With filming for ‘Public Enemies‘ now being over Marion Cotillard can hopefully take some much deserved vacation before rehearsals for ‘Nine‘ start (reportedly) July 28.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter (and many other news outlets) the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has sent out this year’s invitations to invite new people as voting members. The Academy is each year selecting the winners at the Academy Awards also known as the Oscars. Not surprisingly, Marion Cotillard – who was named best actress at this year’s ceremony – is among the 105 artists and executives who received such an invitation. Other invited actors are Sacha Baron Cohen, Josh Brolin, Ruby Dee, Allison Janney, Jet Li and Ray Winstone. To find out who the other 105 new members of the Academy are click here.
The membership policies that the Academy adopted in 2004 in order to slow the growth of the organization would have allowed a maximum of 137 new members in 2008, but the various branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than that. With the new infusion of members, voting membership is expected to hold steady at just under the 6,000 mark.
New members will be welcomed into the Academy at an invitation-only reception at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills in September.
Please visit our new top affiliate, the newly opened website for another French acting talent: Cécile Cassel. She was photographed together with our Marion Cotillard at a number of events in 2004: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
The April issue of Elle Oriental features Marion Cotillard on the cover. The pictures are again of the promotional photoshoot for Chopard taken by Peter Lindbergh and there’s one picture in the set we haven’t seen before!
Mariana was so kind to donate scans of other April issues of Elle, namely from the Brazilian and Portuguese editions. I’ve also added Mirik’s scans of Russian InStyle magazines. Thank you everyone for your donations!
Kindly do not redistribute these scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were obtained/donated exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.
And here I am again with yet another update for today. Guess what the postman brought after lunch? The June issue of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. Luckily I was home because he needed my signature. I especially bought this magazine because it features additional pictures of that absolutely gorgeous new photoshoot by Peter Lindbergh. The editorial is called ‘Le Magnifique Marion’ – what a good title, eh? My top picks are scans #3 and #6. Enjoy!
Kindly do not redistribute these scans at another Marion Cotillard fan site as they were obtained exclusively for ‘Magnifique Marion Cotillard’. Thank you.
Thank you everyone who emailed me about this and posted links in the forum. I’ve now added some additional pictures of Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette taken on the set of ‘Public Enemies’ to the gallery. Some of those date back to the end of April and the newer batch is from last week. Doesn’t she look sublime? I can’t wait for this movie. The gallery now contains a total of 24,000 (!) pictures.
I’ve once again taken up the task of completing the ‘new’ gallery. Although I haven’t worked on it since early April don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten. After today’s updates the gallery now contains the complete event galleries for the years 1998 – 2006. Not only have I transferred all the photos from the old gallery but I’ve also sorted any additional pictures I could find on my hard disk and uploaded them for your viewing pleasure – a total of 811 pictures! Stay tuned for the 2007/2008 pictures.
Earlier this week ‘Chloé‘ was released on DVD in France (Buy). The TV movie from 1996 comes with no extras and no subtitles – just the plain film in the original French language. The movie was hard to come by up until now and no doubt because of Marion Cotillard’s recent Oscar win France 2 decided to release this film on DVD now.
Note how the DVD cover reads “Marion Cotillard, Oscar and César for Best Actress in ‘La Vie en Rose’, in her first role. Featuring the music of ‘L’hymne à l’amour’ by Edith Piaf”. It must be stated however, that although Chloé was indeed one of Marion’s first roles it was not the first. That’d be the role of Lori Bellian in an episode of ‘Highlander’ – also directed by Chloé director Dennis Berry.
I’ve had a low quality version of the movie for a while but never managed to make screencaptures from it. Now that the film is available on DVD I couldn’t resist buying it even though I have to admit that this is my absolute least favourite movie out of Marion’s resumee. Nontheless, she gives a very strong, powerful and harrowing performance, really remarkable – especially considering she was only just 20 years old at the time and at the beginning of her acting career.
Earlier this week Variety reported that ‘Ondine‘ is set to start shooting in West Cork, Ireland this July now that financing and main cast have been set. Who’s playing the title character? The girl caught in the fishernet thought to be a mythological sea nymph (Ondine)? Not Marion Cotillard but newcomer Alicja Bachleda.
