New Video Archive

For some time I’ve been very unhappy with the script I had been using for the site’s video archive. I’ve now installed the ever-so-fantastic Coppermine and with help from Ally it should integrate well into the overall site layout. Many thanks!

I’ve been working hard to bring you all the previously available videos plus more. I’m still not done adding all the stuff I have but please bare with me. Many thanks to Paolo for some contributions!

Most noteworthy are probably the additions in the following folders:
Ma vie en l’air (Love is in the Air) – 2005 – English Trailer
Les Jolies choses (Pretty Things) – 2001 – Film clips + full Lucie. F. clip
Talk Shows – 2005 – Vivement Dimanche with Monica Bellucci
TV Shows – Hommage a Piaf, February 10, 2007
Interviews – interviews of Marion Cotillard promoting A Good Year and La Vie en Rose
Public Appearances – 2007 – various clips, incl. the (dubbed) acceptance speech at the Hollywood Awards
Other – various clips, incl. a fantastic interview called Screentest by the New York Times T Magazine – I came across it when watching a previous edition featuring Natalie Portman

Actors about Marion

It’s not only the general audience and jury panels that recognize Marion Cotillard’s outstanding performance in ‘La Vie en Rose’. Here are quotes from 2 actors I respect a lot:

“Not only did she craft a flawless impersonation of a famous personality, but Marion’s humanity elevated her performance to a devastatingly honest and yet seemingly effortless personification of integrity and grace. To me, this is more than just a great performance; it’s a document of this actress’s overwhelming ability to love.”

“Marion Cotillard in “La Vie en rose” was absolutely astonishing, and the synthesis of the performance with the whole film is superb. As much as inhabiting Piaf, she was also creating a creature, and I thought that was astonishing and inspiring. One of the most remarkable things I’ve ever seen.”

More nominations

While making a visit to the online world – these visits have become rather rare these days, sorry – I came across the fantastic news of Marion Cotillard being nominated for a Satellite Award as Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. Congratulations!

Other nominees in this category are Julie Christie for “Away From Her”, Angelina Jolie for “A Mighty Heart”, Tilda Swinton for “Stephanie Daley”, Keira Knightly for “Atonement” and Laura Linney for “The Savages”. See the complete list of nominees here. The 12th annual ceremony will be held Dec. 16 in Century City, with awards going out in 49 categories.

Then, I must inform you all – if you haven’t found out yourself already – that Marion Cotillard has also been nominated for an European Film Award as European Actress 2007. Again, the competition included some very stellar acting talents: Marianne Faithful in “Irina Palm”, Carice van Houten in “Zwartboek” (Black Book), Anamaria Marinca in “4 Luni, 3 Saptamini Si 2 Zile” (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days), Helen Mirren in “The Queen” and Ksenia Rappoport in “La Sconosciuta”. Sadly, when the European Film Awards took place yesterday in Berlin it was Helen Mirren who won the award!
